George Clooney appeared in fine spirits as he showed off his best moves at the 83rd Venice Film Festival on Wednesday. The prestigious event is set to kick off this evening and it’s not just any old Venice Film Festival for George this year, as he is due to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award.Attending the photocall the actor, 65, beamed as he put his fists up playfully as he struck a fight pose for the camera. Looking smart in a navy suit and open collar white shirt, the star waved to fans before taking selfies with those in the crowd. In the nearly 30 years since he attended his first Venice Film Festival with the film Out Of Sight, George has become something of a fixture at the event.It’s a place where he’s enjoyed many significant moments, from his wedding to Amal to the debut of Good Night, And Good Luck, which he co-wrote and starred in, and for which he was nominated for his first best director Oscar. Located on the canal front and offering glorious views across the city, the Aman Venice hotel was the setting for the Clooneys’ star-studded wedding 12 years ago.The hotel opened in the 450-year-old Palazzo Papadopoli in 2013 and offers rooms ranging in price from £1,000 to £3,200 a night.The Clooneys may have been staying at their Lake Como home to escape the wildfires in July that blighted southern France where the couple have their principal residence.The family live in Brignoles, located in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region, which was threatened by fires spreading across France, Greece, Italy and Spain.In a letter to the mayor of Brignoles, Didier Brémond, George revealed that he and his loved ones evacuated their home, his representative confirmed to People at the time.The actor reportedly vowed to support the town, which has a population just under 18,000 people, regardless of the impact of the encroaching fires.’Dear Didier, At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment,’ the Hollywood veteran began.’As we evacuate Brignoles we want to emphasize two things, first we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second that Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we’ll be part of making it whole,’ he wrote.’We love Brignoles and our friends who live there.’
