I know that a lot of people found the summer heatwaves unbearable, but I’m missing them. Where’s best to go for a week in Europe mid to late October on a cheap flight for another burst of heat?Kate Jones, Dulwich, south-east LondonHoliday Guru replies: Sunseekers still have plenty of options in the Mediterranean in mid to late October with daily highs of between 25C and 27C in a host of popular destinations.Southern Spain is always popular in the autumn as it is still hot. While daily highs are 14C in London and Manchester in October, according to holiday-weather.com, in Seville in Andalucia you can expect 26C, while in Torremolinos or Benidorm expect 24C.To make an adventure of it, you could fly to Seville, stay a couple of nights seeing sights such as the Moorish Royal Alcazar and the cathedral, plus enjoying its superb tapas bars, before catching a 2hrs 40min train to Granada, home of the Alhambra fortress, for two further nights (£43, trainline.com).Then travel onwards by train once again to Ronda, a four-hour journey (£20), to see its fantastic bridge across a plunging ravine, visit its famous old bull ring and enjoy a flamenco show. Then catch another train, 4hrs 30min (£40) to Seville for a final night before flying home. Return flights are an enticing £62 in mid-October (ryanair.com).For an Andalucian beach holiday, seven nights at the Hotel Riu Costa Del Sol in Torremolinos is from £781pp all-inclusive departing from Stansted on October 20. It’s by the beach and comes with smart, comfortable rooms, four pools, a spa and a gym (tui.co.uk). A small house in the city centre is from £635 for a week (airbnb.co.uk).Or fly to Cyprus, where it touches 27C in October, and flights are from £205 return (skyscanner.net) and a sea view apartment in Peyia near Paphos is from £629 a week, again with Airbnb.Alternatively, a week’s all-inclusive at the elegant Atlantica Bay hotel near Paphos is from £878pp including Stansted flights (tui.co.uk).
