A notorious Greek island beach bar has once again come under fire after fresh claims of eye-watering prices, pushy staff and tourists being left feeling ‘ripped off’.DK Oyster, located on Platis Gialos beach on the popular island of Mykonos, markets itself as a luxury restaurant and beach club.But recent Tripadvisor reviews paint a very different picture, with customers accusing staff of being ‘rude’, ‘untrustworthy’ and warning fellow holidaymakers to stay away.’Do NOT go here, you will get ripped off,’ one reviewer fumed after claiming they were charged a whopping €50 (£42.85) for a single cocktail.Another described the venue as ‘untrustworthy’ and wrote: ‘Ripped off, then lied to. He asked for a cash tip on top of a small round of drinks costing €150.’I refused but he had already added a tip to the card cost and was trying to get more out of us. Be very careful.’A third reviewer branded the experience ‘terrible’.’Just terrible. Very high pressure,’ they wrote. ‘Wouldn’t show us a menu. Drinks were €50 each. One holidaymaker described the prices as ‘expensive’ and, echoing similar complaints, said it was a ‘terrible experience’ and ‘dodgy’.’My kids got charged higher prices for no reason, the pressure regarding the food and use of the facilities was ridiculous,’ the visitor continued. ‘People around us were shaking their heads at how bad the atmosphere was.’Another diner fumed: ‘Very rude staff and unreal prices. They charge you double or even triple for what you see on their Google menu. Prepare to pay €60 for cocktail or €25 for beer.’ Despite its plush sunbeds and dramatic seaside views, this isn’t the first time DK Oyster has been slammed by customers. Last year, a tourist visiting the sun-soaked holiday hotspot spoke out after being hit with a staggering €1,000 (£857) bill at the controversial beachside restaurant – including an eye-watering €350 (£300) charge for a single piece of fish.The traveller shared her experience online, calling her visit to DK Oyster ‘the worst experience in Mykonos’. In a scathing one-star review, she described how she and her fellow diners were charged over €1,000 (£861) for just three dishes. One guest described their experience as ‘terrible’ and said drinks were a whopping €50 each Another claimed the staff were ‘rude’ and had to cough up €60 for a cocktail Someone else felt they were ‘ripped off’ and charged €150 for a ‘small round of drinksShe wrote: ‘The place is an abuse of price. For a whole fish we paid €350 and for three dishes €1,000. ‘The worst experience in Mykonos, because not even at [Scorpios], which is one of the best places, did we pay that amount for a dinner for 5 people with a starter, main course, and dessert.’Other Tripadvisor users echoed this frustration, with several branding the restaurant a ‘complete scam’. Describing the venue as a ‘shocking scam’, one former customer, who goes by Sue, wrote: ‘A staff member brought over an additional drink – unrequested – as a “gift” for our group of four. It seemed like a friendly gesture… until it appeared on the bill.’Sue also alleged she had been charged €400 for a ‘handful’ of alcoholic and soft drinks – including €35 for a Coca-Cola. Another visitor, Amrita, who dined at the restaurant in June 2024, claimed she was ‘lured in’ with free sunbeds and handed a menu, then she decided to order the fish. She added: ‘They never explained that the fish is charged by the weight of the full fish. We became aware when they brought a bill for €400. The actual fish served was greater than 1kg.’ It’s not the first time DK Oyster has received bad reviews, one last year described it as the ‘the worst experience in Mykonos’ and posted a photo of her receipt A third guest, Gabriela, accused DK Oyster of ‘theft’, writing: ‘They convince you to order a beer that costs €35 each. And quickly come with the bill for you to already pay and leave.’Finally, another customer urged future visitors to ‘avoid at all costs’, adding: ‘Lunch and sunbeds for €35. But when we added two bottles of water and a Diet Coke, they added on €51. They then added €5 for use of ketchup and €18 for small fries.’ The Daily Mail approached DK Oyster for comment.
