Chloe Barker, 22, is currently being treated in hospital after fracturing her spine when she was knocked from a bar stool The Brit, from Halifax, West Yorkshire, was holidaying in Prague with a friend when the incident happenedChloe said: ‘I’m really scared, the hospital is doing a good job but there’s a language barrier and I’m in a lot of pain.’The 22-year-old admitted she had never had to undergo medical treatment like this before and is feeling ‘really scared’. She has already had one spinal surgery but will need another to repair the fracture. She is currently still in hospital in Prague and cannot travel on a commercial flight home as she cannot sit down.A medical repatriation is estimated to cost between £7,000 and £10,000.Fortunately, the holidaymaker was prepared and purchased travel insurance ahead of her trip, which is covering her medical bills. However, Chloe was reportedly told her particular insurance does not cover medical repatriation.Initially, Chloe’s friend Sophia Andrews, 21, set up a fundraiser to help pay for the medical repatriation, but the insurance company have since said they will now cover the fees.Sophia, who is from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, said: ‘She had only been there one day, bless her. The holidaymaker cannot travel on a commercial flight home as she cannot sit down A medical repatriation is estimated to cost between £7,000 to £10,000 and Chloe’s travel insurance is covering the cost, though she was initially not covered’She was sat on a high bar stool and someone just walked past quickly and knocked her off it, falling backwards so she landed straight on her back and folded herself over.’She had to go for a CT scan to see the extent of the injuries, it’s a fracture in the lower spine.’She’s undergone one spinal surgery, so she’s had to have metal screws and rods placed there to stabilise it and a bone graft on her hip as well but she’s having to have a second [operation].’Sophia added that she is only allowed to visit her for four hours each day ‘so for the most part she is by herself’.Doctors have estimated she could go home in around seven days, depending on recovery.  ‘It’s either a medical ambulance [that] they’re going to have to drive her back in with obviously paramedics onboard as well, or an air ambulance,’ Sophia added.’But it depends on the situation afterwards, what they think will be better for her. She’s been told it will cost from £7,000 to £10,000.’Chloe’s recovery timeframe is uncertain, according to Sophia, including when she will be able to go back to work. Chloe’s friend Sophia Andrews, pictured right, explained how the Brit has already had one spinal surgery but will need anotherSophia said: ‘It’s definitely a state of shock, really, for her and feeling really bad for it physically and mentally I imagine is a lot for her.’It’s awful to think of her in that situation and know you can’t really do anything for her.'[In terms of getting back to work], it totally depends to be honest on the recovery but she’s not going to be able to drive for three months so probably a three-month minimum [before she goes back].’Another Brit abroad was recently hit with a huge medical bill after being admitted to hospital while on holiday in Spain. When Kevin Turner, 63, jetted off to Alicante with his partner, Joy Peck, in May, he had been ill for a week with a chest infection, but things took a turn for the worse because he hadn’t declared his ailment to his travel insurance. The retired painter and decorator had been given a course of antibiotics and steroids, and felt assured by his GP that he was ‘good to go’, with a further prescription to cover the period he would be away. But when Kevin landed in the popular Spanish destination he began to feel ‘off’ and put it down to the tiring journey. But when his chest pains worsened the following day, Joy was so worried she called an ambulance.
