NFL Network analyst Michael Robinson has come under fire after appearing to question the scary blood clot that has seen Jalen Hurts put on injured reserve.’To me, it looked like Jalen is kind of getting himself out of the fray so that this lost season… doesn’t look like it’s on [him],’ the ex-NFL star said in a clip that has sparked outrage. Philadelphia announced on Thursday that star quarterback Hurts has a superficial blood clot and on Sunday it was confirmed that he will miss at least four games. A superficial blood clot develops in a vein close to the surface of the skin. The issue was discovered before Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London, where Hurts was deemed healthy enough to play and finished the game without incident.Since then, the Eagles said, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the blood clot, forcing the team to rule him out indefinitely. But Robinson, a Super Bowl champion with the Seattle Seahawks, has now implied that there is more to the injury than meets the eye. Michael Robinson appeared to question the blood clot suffered by Eagles star Jalen Hurts Philadelphia quarterback Hurts will now miss Sunday’s game against the Carolina Panthers ‘If I’m Jalen Hurts… I’m saying: “Well if everybody’s hurt, I’m hurt, too,”‘ Robinson said’It looked like they were trying to pin the outcome of this season on Jalen Hurts, just so that they can have an excuse later on to move on from Jalen Hurts,’ he said on NFL GameDay Kickoff before suggesting the quarterback is choosing to sit on the sideline.’If I’m just playing devil’s advocate… if I’m Jalen Hurts, or anybody in Jalen Hurts’ camp, I’m saying: “Well if everybody’s hurt, I’m hurt, too.”‘He continued: ‘Guys, I’ve been cleated before. And I’m not saying a superficial blood clot isn’t serious. I’m not saying that. But I would advise all of our viewers to Google “superficial blood clot” rather than a real blood clot.’Among those to criticize Robinson was former NFL quarterback Robert Griffin III, who called his comments ‘ridiculous’ and ‘outrageous.’ He wrote on social media: ‘WHAT ARE WE DOING MAN? I would never expect this from a former player. I wouldn’t expect this from ANYBODY. Jalen Hurts can’t even have a serious medical condition in peace.’Robinson floated his theory despite the Eagles releasing a lengthy statement explaining the timeline of Hurts’ injury.’On Thursday, October 8th, Jalen visited the training room after practice requesting treatment for his calf,’ the team wrote. ‘He informed the medical staff he had been cleated during the Rams game on October 4th. ‘This was his first treatment session for the calf injury following the game, after having practiced in full both Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday, Jalen received treatment, practiced in full, and was added to the practice report.THIS IS RIDICULOUS.The negative narratives around Jalen Hurts have to stop.Michael Robinson is accusing Jalen Hurts of saying, ‘Well if everybody’s hurt, I’m hurt, too.” And that Jalen Hurts is “pulling himself out so that this doesn’t look like it’s on me.” when Jalen Hurts… pic.twitter.com/vdqU6Qb3YB— Robert Griffin III (@RGIII) October 17, 2026 Hurts’ issue was discovered before Sunday’s loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars in London’Out of an abundance of caution, an ultrasound was performed on Saturday following the team’s flight to London and walkthrough,’ the statement continued. ‘The ultrasound revealed a superficial blood clot. Our medical staff and doctors in London reviewed the results and concluded that activity and mobility were important and that Jalen could safely play. Doctors recommended a follow-up ultrasound within 72 hours of the game and the return flight to Philadelphia.’Jalen played without limitation in the game Sunday, received treatment on Monday and Tuesday, and practiced in full on Wednesday, as reflected in the practice report. Throughout our time in London and this week, we have remained in communication with the league office regarding the matter.’On Wednesday night, a follow-up ultrasound revealed movement in the small blood clot. Jalen will be out for Sunday’s game vs. the Panthers as we determine the appropriate course of treatment. His health and safety are our highest priority.’The Eagles are 2-3 this season and have lost three straight amid injuries to running back Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith and guard Landon Dickerson, while center Cam Jurgens was traded to the Baltimore Ravens and right tackle Lane Johnson abruptly retired.
