Former England Lioness celebrates Argentina star boyfriend’s World Cup win over Thomas Tuchel’s side after stirring controversy for supporting reigning champions

Former England Lioness Kelci-Rose Bowers celebrated her partner Marcos Senesi’s success with Argentina after the team beat England to reach the World Cup semi-final.  The 22-year-old had previously shared that she would have divided loyalties heading into the clash, and admitting that she knew that her choice would be ‘controversial’. After the heartbreaking defeat that saw Thomas Tuchel and Co knocked out thanks to Lautaro Martinez’s late winner, Bowers – who plays for Bournemouth and previously featured in England’s youth ranks – shared that she was ‘proud of her country :((‘ while simultaneously ‘proud of (Senesi)’ always as she opened up on the difficulties of supporting both sides. ‘Well that just happened…,’ she shared in a grid post to Instagram. ‘Of course a crazy experience with a lot of mixed emotions, one I won’t forget (England flag emoji, Argentina flag emoji, prayer hands emoji)’I am proud of how far England have come and of course my partner for reaching the WC FINAL (heart-eyes emojis)’See you in NYC (arrow emoji)’.  Kelci-Rose Bowers – whose partner is Argentina star Marcos Senesi – shared a message full of ‘mixed emotions’ after his team knocked out England The WAG and Bournemouth women’s team star played for England’s Lionesses at youth levelBowers shared snaps from the stadium, including a look at the England fans in the stands and players from the pitch – but did so while sitting in the thick of Argentina’s friends and family support. She did however draw the line at donning the iconic blue and white stripes of the Albiceleste, instead opting for a pinstriped jacket by team sponsor adidas. Before the match had kicked off, Bowers had taken to TikTok to explain why she would above all else be supporting Senesi on the eve of one of her country’s most significant international fixtures. ‘Crazy situation, didn’t think this was actually going to happen,’ she said. ‘It’s crazy that England are playing Argentina in the semi-final, that’s not happened in forever.’This situation is very unusual for me, of course, being English and England making it to the semi-final is a crazy accomplishment and I’m super proud of my country.’Of course my partner is playing for Argentina so for anyone in any relationship, depending on what your partner does, you’re going to support them. For me, being able to come to the World Cup and travel around has been amazing.’Embracing the culture of Argentina and wearing the Argentina shirt has been something that I’ve been doing – and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it.’Now England are playing Argentina there is some controversy about what I’m going to do. Look, I’m going to go to the game, enjoy the game, respect both teams and cheer on my partner. I’m just there to enjoy it guys.’ From the Argentina team’s friends and family section, Bowers shared pictures of the stadium But Bowers did not sport the blue and white striped jersey of the Albiceleste at this fixture, as she has earlier in the tournament (pictured) The 22-year-old has been following Argentina since Senesi’s late call-up to the team in JuneBowers had previously captured Senesi’s euphoric reaction to his late call-up while the couple were enjoying their summer holiday. The newly minted Tottenham star was called upon by head coach Lionel Scaloni to travel Stateside following an injury to Leonardo Balerdi during their training camp. Senesi and Bowers had been enjoying holidays in Miami and then Ibiza before he got the call. The duo first met at the south coast club in 2024, with Bowers turning out for the women’s side and Senesi for the men’s. The latter has since booked a move to north London side Spurs, inking a deal with the club last month as a free transfer. How much is David Beckham set to pocket from his World Cup brand deals?
