Card payments go down leaving England fans thirsty as they support the Three Lions from pubs at home

England fans were left frustrated as they flocked to support the national side in the World Cup this evening as card payments were disrupted by an outage.Payment processing company Worldpay reported outages at some of their card terminals, with frustrated customers online sharing similar experiences of being left empty-handed when they went to pay.One devastated football fan who was unable to purchase his pint wrote on X that ‘you could not make this up’.Broadcaster Adam Brooks went on to write: ‘Unbelievable… busy England game and @Worldpay_Global goes down on card terminals… Multiple sectors reporting issues of terminals down.’Others joined his frustrations in the comments, adding that they were unable to pay in places like Tesco or Lidl.Dan Joseph wrote on X: ‘@Tesco is there something up with the site tonight? Webpage and app both failing to check out a new order’.Andrew Mancey said: ‘Worldpay hit by a power grid outage ! Whoops.. this will have most likely hit pubs during Englands World Cup match.. not ideal!’However, some users online have since confirmed that they can now pay with Worldpay. Tesco, Lidl and Worldpay have been contacted for comment.
