Seann William Scott is worlds away from American Pie on his 50th birthday after embracing fatherhood and ‘dark and disturbing’ roles – while still earning £45k a month in royalties

He found fame in the Noughties with his role as the arrogant and crude Steve Stifler in the American Pie franchise. Yet two decades on from his career-defining role, the world couldn’t look more different for Seann William Scott.Today, the actor marks his 50th birthday, and will no doubt be planning to celebrate with his six-year-old daughter Frankie after swapping partying for parenting. These days, the actor enjoys a wholesome life dedicated to raising his daughter, with the actor explaining he won’t take on any roles that would keep him away from her. It’s a far cry from his work ethic in the Noughties, which saw him film a string of back-to-back hits, including  Dude, Where’s My Car?, Role Models, Road Trip and Final Destination. Yet as he says now: ‘I’m happy that I was able to get things going early on in my career, and to now be at the point where I don’t feel like I have anything to prove. I just want to make a fun little project every once in a while, then go home to my daughter.’  Seann William Scott is worlds away from American Pie on his 50th birthday but is still enjoying £45k a month in royalties from his past comedy roles (pictured this year)  He found fame in the Noughties with his role as the arrogant and crude Steve Stifler in American Pie and it’s now been two decades since his career-defining roleSpeaking to the Independent earlier this year, Seann revealed that he also felt it was time for a career change after playing a ‘total moron’ in most of his films.  Indeed his latest role couldn’t have been more different, with Seann starring in Dolly this year – a slasher film in which his character is stalked by a killer in a baby doll mask.He has also taken on a slew of drama and horror roles in recent years, including Bloodline, Already Gone and The Wrath of Becky.Seann explained: ‘I always wanted darker roles, and more disturbing roles. A Clockwork Orange was my favourite movie, you know? I wanted to be Malcolm McDowell.’Yet instead, Seann fell into comedy, a move that took him by surprise because he didn’t consider himself to be particularly funny. It’s been reported that he was paid just $8000 for American Pie, but he thinks it might have been less. Although he reasoned: ‘But that was also a s**t-ton of money to me back then. I honestly didn’t care if it was considered low. I never cared about money in that way. ‘I really mean this, but I would have done all of the American Pies for free.’ He is no doubt, however, enjoying the giant payday that has come from his breakthrough role.  These days, the actor enjoys a wholesome life dedicated to raising his daughter, with the actor explaining he won’t take on any roles that would keep him away from her Speaking to the Independent, Seann revealed that he also felt it was time for a career change after playing a ‘total moron’ in most of his films (pictured in The Wrath Of Becky) Indeed his latest role couldn’t have been more different, with Seann starring in Dolly this year – a slasher film in which his character is stalked by a killer in a baby doll maskThe hit comedy cost $11million to make and made a massive $235million at the global box office. Last year, the star’s substantial six-figure monthly income was revealed amid a custody and child support battle with ex-wife Olivia Korenberg over their daughter Frankie. He declared his income and expenses in a court filing that showed he makes about $110,000 per month, according to Us Weekly.Scott, who listed himself as an actor on the paperwork, declared he earns about $45,000 in royalty payments and $31,000 in dividends/interest payments per month, adding that he has $158,000 in cash and checking/savings accounts. The Role Models actor added he has $12,285,322 in stocks and bonds as well as $18,781,328 in real property, including three homes in Los Angeles, a Honda Passport worth $55,000, a Mini Cooper worth $30,000, as well as jewellery worth $650 and furniture worth $171,000. I’m happy just to be a dad.’On his current role in American sitcom Shifting Gears, which also stars Tim Allen and Kat Dennings, he mused: ‘I can go and be with these wonderful people and try to make people laugh, but I also get to take my daughter to school, and then finish work in time to go pick her up at the end of her day.’One thing Seann isn’t looking forward to, is explaining American Pie to his daughter. He told Metro this year that his daughter was confused by fans calling him Stifler, explaining: ‘She’s only five and I will never let her watch any of those movies. ‘No! I’m joking. One day I will have the conversation and show them to her and she’s either gonna be horrified and be like – “Daddy?!” or she’s gonna laugh her a** off.’ As for his thoughts about turning 50, Seann quipped: ‘I felt fine until you just brought it up! Now I have issues. ‘Maybe it’s time for me to grow up, because I still feel like a big kid. Though that’s what makes me an awesome dad.’
