Jessika Power has shared confronting footage and photos showing the horrific injuries she sustained while suffering domestic violence. The former Married at First Sight bride made the disclosure in a clip shared on Instagram this week, in which she documented her bruising, a cut to her lip and a gory wound to her arm she claimed was inflicted by a former partner. Addressing her past self in the accompanying caption, the 33-year-old detailed how the violence she suffered impacted her career and relationships.’Love isn’t supposed to leave you scared, confused, injured or constantly questioning your worth, baby girl,’ Power wrote.’Trust yourself the first time something feels wrong. Power explained that at times, the violence got so bad, she was hospitalised with injuries that have left lasting damage to her body. ‘I was subjected to incredible abuse which landed me in hospital more than once and I still have the scars that person left me,’ she said. Last week, Power shared how she was left fearing for her life and was hospitalised after suffering domestic violence at the hands of a former partner’I was left with spinal nerve damage and multiple scars both on the inside and outside.’The reality star was not sure that she would survive the relationship. ‘There were moments when I genuinely feared for my life and moments when leaving felt impossible,’ she said.’Domestic violence isn’t always as simple as walking out the door. Fear, threats, isolation and psychological control can make you feel completely trapped. ‘I’m incredibly grateful that I was eventually able to get out and access help.’Power said that her decision to share her story, which she first did through a series of posts on Instagram, was an act of empowerment.
