This year has been a challenging one for travellers, with rising flight prices, higher jet fuel costs and the squeeze on household budgets all pushing up the cost of getting away.Some 22 per cent of Britons are increasing their holiday budgets in a bid to make sure they can still enjoy a break.But it’s not all bad news. A handful of popular destinations are actually offering better value than they did in 2025, with the pound stretching further once holidaymakers arrive.New research shared exclusively with the Daily Mail by Eurochange has identified four destinations where Brits can get more for their spending money this year.Turkey Britons can get 25 per cent more local currency per their Great British pounds in Turkey this year compared to lastPacked with an abundance of all-inclusive resorts, endless stretches of beaches and great weather, Turkey has been a long-time favourite for British holidaymakers. And travellers will find they get 25 per cent more Turkish lira for every pound compared to last year. £100 in 2025 bought TRY 4,797, whereas this year tourists are getting much more – TRY 6,396.In Antalya, dining out and enjoying local attractions is cheaper. A three-course meal for two came to around £39.03 last year, but is only £31.22 in 2026 – saving £7.81.One pint of beer cost £2.93 in 2025 and has fallen to £2.34 this year. Meanwhile, a visit to the Turkish baths would set you back £35.12 previously and comes to just £28.10 now.Sri Lanka Sri Lanka is also proving to be more affordable this yearSri Lanka is another destination proving to be cheaper this year than last – you can get 14 per cent more Sri Lankan rupees compared to 2025.In 2025, £100 would get you Rs 39,500 whereas in 2026 travellers can fill their pockets with Rs 45,030.Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo, should make less of an impact on holidaymaker’s wallets this year. Indulging in a three-course meal in 2025 would cost £21.29. But if you dine out this year, expect to pay around just £18.76. The price of a pint has gone down from £1.83 to £1.61.Ayurvedic massages are traditional in Sri Lanka and the practice dates back centuries. In 2025, treating yourself to the ancient technique would set you back £11.27 but in 2026 the price has fallen to around £9.93. Egypt Egypt is 12 per cent less and dining out in Hurghada is more affordable tooOne million Britons jet off to Egypt each year, with the famous pyramids, ancient sites and countless luxurious resorts drawing them in.A trip to the sunny destination this summer might feel much cheaper than before as you can now get 12 per cent more Egyptian pounds than before. £100 in 2025 would get you E£61,600 last year but in 2026, the exchange rate means you’ll now receive E£68,992.A three-course meal costs £3.37 less on average this year in Hurghada – one of Egypt’s most popular spots with tourists. Meanwhile a visit to a hamam, a traditional Egyptian bathhouse, should only cost around £8.70 – £1.01 cheaper compared to 2025.Japan Travellers heading to Japan can take advantage of the falling yen and get 10 per cent more local currency with their poundsAs the Japanese yen continues to fall, holidaymakers are getting 10 per cent more for their pounds than in 2025.£100 will now get you ¥22,684, compared to ¥19,726 in 2025.Dining out and enjoying a three-course meal in Tokyo would have set travellers back £36.59 last year, but now costs £32.86. Visiting a traditional sento bathhouse in the capital city is cheaper too, but only 32p less, coming to £2.82.
