The best pizza in Europe has been crowned – and you won’t have to travel abroad to get a slice.While Italy holds the title as the home of pizza, you can now say buon appetito while tucking into a deeply authentic slice in the UK.A London establishment has been named the Best Pizzeria in Europe by 50 Top Pizza.The restaurant in the UK capital was handed the crown by the world’s most comprehensive and influential guide dedicated to the pizza industry. The best pizza in Europe has been revealed – and it’s in the UK Napoli on the Road, which has three UK branches, scooped up the award – run by Michele Pascarella, picturedNapoli on the Road, in London, was handed the title of Best Pizzeria in Europe.It marks an unprecedented third consecutive year at the top of the ranking, following the opening of its third location, in London’s Soho district.On the menu, you’ll find such delights as Ricordi d’Infanzia, with slow-cooked beef ragu, Parmigiano fondue, lots of grated Parmigiano, basil, extra virgin olive oil, and the White Capricciosa, with Napoli salame and grilled artichokes.Its website says: ‘Our philosophy revolves around the seasons: spring, summer, fall, and winter. We use the freshest seasonal ingredients, sourced from Italy and trusted UK farmers.’Second place went to Baldoria in Madrid, led by Ciro Cristiano, which also retains its title as the Best Pizzeria in Spain for 2026. And third place was awarded to IMperfetto in Puteaux, France, owned by Tonino Cogliano and Simone Lombardi.London also claimed fourth place in the competition, thanks to 50 Kalò by Ciro Salvo.The Top 20 pizzerias in the ’50 Top Pizza Europa 2026’ ranking now automatically qualify for the ‘100 Best Pizzerias in the World’ ranking, which will be unveiled on September 15 at the historic Teatro Mercadante in Naples.Spain has the highest number of pizzerias in the guide, with 29, followed by France with 24 and England with 22. In fourth place is another UK establishment – 50 Kalò by Ciro SalvoParis is the most represented city with 17 pizzerias, followed by London with 15 and Madrid with nine.In a joint statement, the guide’s curators Barbara Guerra, Luciano Pignataro, and Albert Sapere said: ‘A European-wide guide which boasts 200 pizzerias across the continent, distributed across 35 different countries, represents an enormous amount of research carried out by our inspectors, whom we thank sincerely. ‘And for the tenth year, we have decided to raise the number of those appearing in the final ranking to 60.’This year’s ‘Pizza Maker of the Year’ was named as Gaspare Squitieri from Pizza Zulu in Fürth, Germany; while the ‘Pizza of the Year’ was awarded to Marinara by Surt, in Copenhagen, Denmark. 50 Top Pizza Europa 2026 1.
