Tottenham to fly to Marbella for training camp immediately after Premier League clash with Man United – as Roberto De Zerbi hopes trip to Spain can kickstart their season following winless start

Tottenham are set to head to Marbella for an early-season training camp after their Premier League clash against Man United on Saturday.Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is hoping to kickstart their campaign, with his side currently bottom of the Premier League with two points from five games.Following the encounter at Old Trafford, Tottenham have a nine-day gap until they host Coventry on Monday, October 19. The trip to Spain will give De Zerbi’s squad an opportunity to bond after a busy summer of upheaval.Spurs added 10 players for around £250million in the transfer window, many of whom arrived late on and therefore haven’t had much time to gel with their new team-mates. The trip to southern Spain will also give De Zerbi’s side the chance to train in warm weather, with expected temperatures of 25 degrees in contrast to the forecasted rain in north London.  Tottenham will head to Marbella for a training camp after today’s clash against Man United De Zerbi is hoping to use the trip to turn around his side’s fortunes amid their early strugglesDuring pre-season, De Zerbi also expressed his frustration with the time he had to work with his new group as a result of the club’s summer tour to New Zealand and Australia, along with several players returning late after the World Cup. A team trip is nothing new to the Italian, with his squad heading to Mayfair restaurant Bacchanalia towards the end of last season for a bonding dinner to ease the pressure as they battled with relegation. A warm-weather camp early in the season is unusual though, with these tending to happen over the winter as teams go in search of sun and recuperation during a hectic schedule. Prior to the lengthy international break, Spurs were beaten 3-2 at home to Aston Villa, after which De Zerbi expressed his anger at his side. ‘I was very disappointed, very sad, very frustrated for the performance,’ fumed De Zerbi. ‘We can’t lose this game in this way, absolutely. ‘We can’t concede the second goal. We can’t lose balance. In the beginning of the second half I spoke with the four attackers, to use their heads, be calm.’It was minute 51. All the second half, be calm, play, enjoy, don’t take risks. But the goal we conceded, the second goal was incredible.’He continued: ‘I don’t know if some players lost energy, but we conceded an unacceptable goal from a long goal kick, with a long ball. We knew Aston Villa are playing 86 per cent more long balls than last season. We spoke about it in many meetings.’Then we have to explain another game like Newcastle, where we play well in the first half and then lose. For sure it’s an aspect.’It’s my responsibility, I don’t want to leave without taking my responsibility, but in that moment of the game, when the game is different to ball possession, to playing in the last third, because we can’t play for 90 minutes in the last third like the first half, because there is an opponent.’Aston Villa is not such a bad team. It is a good team, good players and the moment we have to defend, we have to defend compact. The leaders have to be leaders and lead the team. The trip will give De Zerbi more time to work with some of his new signings, including Savio’Football is like life, either you are stronger or you lose.’De Zerbi vowed to work harder and improve in the aftermath of the defeat but accused his players of losing their way when things conspired against them.’In the second half, we lost balance because we were losing,’ added the Spurs boss. ‘We forced the pass, forced the situation, lost the ball.’Before the next international break, Spurs also face Coventry, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Leeds in what is likely to be a crunch month for the Italian.
