Tottenham maintain they are not pursuing a deal for Monaco’s former Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun.The striker has taken his career to new heights since leaving the Gunners in 2023, and starred for the United States at the World Cup this summer, where he scored three goals as his country reached the last-16.He also made headlines when he was sent off in the round of 32 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina, before that was ‘suspended’.It soon emerged that Donald Trump had called FIFA boss Gianni Infantino to ask him to review the controversial sending off, prompting allegations of favouritism and political interference given there had only ever been one instance of an overturned red card in the history of the World Cup, coming all the way back in 1962.Still, Balogun is a highly-rated forward, and Tottenham are in the market for a striker as they look to boost their forward line.The club, though, insist they are not looking to make a move for Balogun, whose deal with Monaco in Ligue 1 runs until 2028. I didn’t think it meant much.
