Thomas Tuchel has warned Cole Palmer he misses ‘way too many camps’ after the Chelsea playmaker pulled out of representing England.Palmer was given the chance to impress Tuchel by being called up after missing out on going to the summer’s World Cup. However, he withdrew earlier this week with Chelsea sources citing the reason as a minor muscular injury which they wanted to oversee personally.Tuchel branded that ‘another missed opportunity’ when discussing Palmer, who will not be available to take on world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday night.Not holding back, the England manager said: ‘It is a missed opportunity, it is another missed opportunity, he misses too many opportunities. ‘I don’t blame him for it. It’s just the fact he misses way too many camps with injuries. I only want to rely on what I personally witness and what I see within my team and for that, you have to be in camp. ‘If you’re not in camp, there’s a next level to impress that you cannot achieve, because you only can do it when you’re with me on the pitch. The 24-year-old has started every Premier League game for Chelsea this season, scoring twice and assisting twice. After managing 83 minutes in their opening win away at Fulham, he has completed four full 90s since.His form earned him his recall, but Palmer never made it to St George’s Park as England’s players reported for training as of Monday afternoon.As well as Spain, Tuchel’s team will play two games against Czechia and another versus Croatia. The England manager said he will only focus on those who have shown the desire to be with him for these Nations League fixtures.‘My understanding is that he plays with discomfort and pain and he cannot compete at the highest level with discomfort and pain,’ Tuchel added on Palmer. ‘So he withdrew. He informed us, and Chelsea informed us. That is my understanding.‘We are not managing load. When I was in club football, I used the term of “an international break”. When you hear it on the other side, it is totally different, a totally different picture. This is not an international break. I think that’s what we’ve created now. This is a competitive environment.‘This is also an environment that players love to be at. When they walk through the door, they love to train with each other, be with each other, that’s what togetherness and brotherhood looks like.‘That’s what we created from last September in qualification and we will never compromise on that. We will never let this creep in that we have the feeling that players don’t want to come. It’s fair enough, but we focus on the guys who absolutely want to play for England.’
