Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson finds himself in more hot water just days before his NFL return.Watson, who is back after a serious Achilles injury, has been named as the Browns’ starting quarterback ahead of Sunday’s season opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars. But on Wednesday it emerged that Watson was in court in Cleveland after being issued with a speeding ticket. The quarterback is accused by the Ohio State Highway Patrol of driving 86mph in a 60mph zone on August 26.As reported by Fox8, Watson pleaded not guilty in Cleveland Municipal Court, with a bench trial slated for September 23.The 30-year-old, who has not played since Week 7 of the 2024 season, beat Shedeur Sanders to the starting spot under new coach Todd Monken.Watson has started just 19 games since the Browns acquired him in a blockbuster trade from Houston four years ago and signed him to a fully guaranteed, $230million contract. Neither admitted any wrongdoing. Watson struggled with rustiness upon his return and was just beginning to play like a Pro Bowl QB again when he suffered a season-ending shoulder injury in 2023. This season, he is coming back after twice rupturing his Achilles tendon.In preseason, the quarterback was booed repeatedly during the second half of a 31-7 loss to the Bills. ‘It has nothing to do about the performance,’ Watson said in his post-game press conference. ‘It’s a little bit personal. I think that’s a disrespectful thing. I’m going to keep whatever I feel with me and my family internally on how I feel about that. Just move on.’
