Sarcastic Jurgen Klopp clashes with German press AGAIN: Ex-Liverpool boss hits out at questions over Joshua Kimmich – after criticising ‘pathetic’ leaks when he named first squad

Germany manager Jurgen Klopp has once again clashed with reporters after they raised questions around the absence of Joshua Kimmich from the current squad.Klopp has had his guard up to the media from the moment he returned to management to take charge of his national side, stating from his first press conference that he will quit if his family are targeted in the media. The former Liverpool boss is currently taking charge of his first camp as boss, and has named two 22-man squads for Germany’s four matches this international break.Germany captain Joshua Kimmich was part of the first squad, with a midfield trio of Tom Bischof, Aleksandar Pavlovic and Florian Wirtz impressing in the 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday evening. They will likely play again in Germany’s final game against Greece on Sunday, but Klopp was questioned about Kimmich and saw red, lashing out in his press conference.’It’s such a beautiful evening,’ he said. ‘And without even mentioning it, you’re trying to bring up a topic that isn’t really a topic. And in the end, it’ll be a Jo Kimmich story. You’ll manage that, won’t you? Pavlovic, Bischof, Wirtz – it worked brilliantly.’ Jurgen Klopp once again lashed out at reporters ahead of his latest game in charge of GermanyHe added: ‘You can see that it’s extremely difficult, not because I want to downplay or exaggerate a story or anything like that, but simply because you all want to create a story.’That’s normal, of course. We played a very good game. Now imagine if we had exactly three midfielders in Germany. Exactly three. Why should only one player always play? You have to be in good form to play. Just like at every club. You don’t play there if you’re not in good form.’You need different structures, you need leaders, you need players with great stamina, you need creative players, you need all sorts of things. We played a very good game – and that’s what the question was aimed at. It’s logical that it came up, I just thought it was a bit early. Question two or three was already heading in that direction. That’s why I thought I’d say something about it.’Klopp has so far overseen a 1-1 draw with the Netherlands before a 1-0 defeat by Greece in his first home game in charge. He then led his side to a 2-0 win over Serbia on Thursday, and will look to avenge the Greece defeat on Sunday. The 59-year-old branded early leaks of Germany’s team ‘pathetic’ in the week, and remains keen to stick up for his team.’I’m very happy with the situation,’ he continued. ‘I really have to say, very happy. ‘Nobody who can actually play football needs to worry about anything or anything like that. I’m looking forward to the future with the lads. And with everyone who will be there. And I hope we have the kind of selection you’d normally have.’I have no chance of answering the question in a way that would prevent you from making your own thing out of it anyway. So, I give up. Officially, right now. I’m giving up on this issue. Do what you want.’
