The Los Angeles Rams are gaining one star player for their upcoming Week 2 game against the New York Giants, but could lose another.Defensive lineman Aaron Donald is set to make his season debut for the Rams on Monday evening after returning from retirement.Donald last played a game in 2024 before choosing to hang up the pads. But he made a career U-turn this past August.’That is the plan,’ Donald said after practice on Friday. ‘Two practices today, have another practice tomorrow, and then we’ll see. But feeling good.’Meanwhile, the Rams face a growing concern about the health of wide receiver Puka Nacua, who missed practice with a hip injury.According to Nate Atkins of The Athletic, it’s ‘unclear’ if Nacua is dealing with the same psoas injury he suffered in training camp. Aaron Donald is expected to make his return for the Rams on Monday Night Football Meanwhile, the team is fearful that Puka Nacua may miss the game after an injury Donald, the three-time NFL DPOY and Super Bowl winner, has not played in a game since 2024Atkins added that Rams coach Sean McVay will provide a further update on Saturday. As for Donald, he did not play in the Rams’ season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia.Rather than make the trip, the 35-year-old stayed back in California to continue to prepare for the season ahead.’Feel a lot better now that I got more practices under my belt instead of one, so kind of getting in a groove of things, understanding everything a lot better,’ Donald said. ‘I’ve been playing a lot more free, a lot more loose, and looking more like myself to me.’ Donald is one of the greatest players in Rams history. A three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, eight-time first-team All-Pro and Super Bowl LVI champion, Donald’s choice to come out of retirement came after Los Angeles acquired pass rusher Myles Garrett. However, Garrett and Donald will need to wait for their chance to unite on the field. Garrett underwent knee surgery and was placed on the IR, ruling him out until at least Week 6 of the season against the Arizona Cardinals.
