The Los Angeles Rams have released Harrison Mevis just hours after the team’s overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills in which he missed two crucial field-goal attempts.Mevis’ second miss of the night was deflected by Buffalo defensive end Greg Rousseau in overtime, allowing the Bills to drive down for a winning field goal in the 37-34 victory. ‘The kicking game, with our PAT, field goal [unit] — not even close to good enough,’ Rams coach Sean McVay said. ‘It cost us the game tonight…. I’m going to evaluate everything.’McVay issued his judgement on Tuesday by waiving Mevis, who leads the NFL with three missed field goals this season. The Super Bowl-winning coach was also upset with himself for kicking from Buffalo’s 30-yard line with 4:16 remaining in overtime.’I wish I would have had a better play call and gone for it, got it tighter,’ McVay told reporters. ‘I’m sick right now with myself, and I’m so proud of that group. This is the tough part of sports, but I’m proud of that team. I’m proud of the way we battled, and I’m sick that we came up short.’ The Los Angeles Rams have released Harrison Mevis just hours after the team’s overtime loss to the Buffalo Bills in which he missed two crucial attempts Sean McVay made his displeasure with his special teams unit quite clear on Monday night Mevis (seen here arriving prior to a game against the Eagles) was waived on Tuesday Mevis’ first miss of the night came on the game’s first drive, when he sent a 50-yard attempt wide left. The news was first reported by NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport. Neither Rams spokespeople nor Mevis’ agent immediately responded to The Daily Mail’s request for comment. Garafolo has also reported that Blake Grupe has been signed by the Rams. A 27-year-old who went undrafted out of Notre Dame in 2023, Grupe previously played for the New Orleans Saints and Indianapolis Colts. For his three-year career, the Missouri native has made 23 of 25 field-goal attempts and 96 of 98 extra points. His career long came with Indianapolis last season when he hit from 60 yards away. Although they entered the year as a Super Bowl contender following the additions of Myles Garrett and Trent McDuffie, as well as the return of Aaron Donald, the Rams are now 2-3 and could fall into a tie last place in the NFC West with a loss to the 1-4 Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
