Premier League star Thierno Barry and his partner suffer ‘distressing and violating’ burglary while he’s playing for Everton – a month after posting video displaying haul of designer handbags in their walk-in wardrobe

Thierno Barry and his partner became the latest victims of footballer-targeted burglary on Thursday night while he was playing for Everton in their Carabao Cup win over Newcastle. Barry, 24, and girlfriend Charlene, with whom he shares a one-year-old daughter, were victims of an ‘extremely distressing and violating experience’.Charlene posted on her Instagram story about the incident and requested anyone with information that might help catch the criminals come forward. Just one month ago, she showcased a haul of designer handbags at the property on a TikTok post.Barry and his family are the latest victims in a string of footballer-targeted burglaries, with Morgan Gibbs-White’s Nottinghamshire home raided just three days ago. Man United’s Bruno Fernandes also had his Cheshire home burgled while he played in Como two weeks ago.Barry’s partner wrote: ‘Unfortunately, our home was burgled this evening while we were at the football match.’Thankfully, nobody was home at the time, but this is still an extremely distressing and violating experience for us and our family. Thierno Barry and his partner Charlene appeared in a TikTok video on her profile recently dancing with different designer handbags in their walk-in wardrobe ‘If anyone has seen or heard anything suspicious, or has any information that could help, we would be incredibly grateful if you could get in touch.’We are also willing to offer a financial reward for any information that helps identify those responsible. Thank you to everyone for your support.’The opportunistic thieves no doubt would have known Barry would not be at home, with his other half also out of the house watching him in action at the Hill Dickinson Stadium.Last month, Charlene shared a video with her 20k TikTok followers inside the walk-in wardrobe in their house, dancing with designer handbags, which the burglars may have targeted during the break in. Football stars have previously been warned about the dangers of sharing pictures or videos from within their luxury houses or alerting criminals to when they’re out of the house on holiday.A gang of burglars who targeted John Terry’s house while he was away skiing in 2017 were jailed for a combined 28 years and the judge said: ‘It might have been a mistake to post a family photograph on social media to show he was away on holiday. ‘As a result his home was deliberately targeted and the master bedroom suite was ransacked. ‘They spent some time searching for items to steal. Not content with the original haul they returned with a third man and an angle grinder determined to get into the safe.’ Barry and his partner Charlene, pictured on holiday in the summer, suffered the distressing and violating incident of being burgled while they were at the Everton gameThieves took handbags worth £126,00, £220,000-worth of jewellery and signed first edition Harry Potter books worth £18,000. Insurance companies have also warned against footballers sharing holiday snaps that may alert criminals of their absence. Barry joins Gibbs-White as the second Premier League star burgled this week. The England international’s partner Britney De Villiers, who lives with him and their two children, issued the statement on Instagram in an attempt to warn others to remain alert. She wrote: ‘I wasn’t going to publicly share this but our home was burgled a few days ago and after hearing about another one since, I feel it’s important to just warn others.’It’s incredibly unsettling knowing that homes are being targeted. Please be extra vigilant, make sure your security systems are on whether you’re in the house or not and report anything suspicious.’Thankfully, nobody was home when it happened and material things can be replaced but it’s a horrible feeling knowing someone has violated your home, especially when you have young children.’United star Fernandes, wife Ana Pinho and their two young children were not at their luxury £4million property in Nether Alderley when three thieves struck at around 8.30pm on October 21 before making off with designer jewelry and other expensive items. Barry scored for the Toffees in their 3-1 victory over Newcastle on Thursday night  Bruno Fernandes pictured at home with his wife Ana Pinho. The pair have two young children and were also victims of a burglary recently while he was away in Como The intruders were said to have been in the house for around five minutes before police arrived after being alerted by a neighbour who spotted them acting suspiciously in the back garden. It’s understood that the house backs on to woods and the burglars jumped over the fence before breaking in, despite the Fernandes having installed CCTV and a high-tech alarm system.Everton’s neighbours Liverpool have had a number of players suffer the same experience over the years, with Sadio Mane, Dejan Lovren, Steven Gerrard, Dirk Kuyt, Pepe Reina, Robbie Keane and Lucas Leiva all going through the ordeal during their times at the club. Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy were victims on two separate occasions and a hooded gang raided Roberto Firmino’s house in 2017. Thieves stole £70,000 worth of jewellery, watches and clothes on that occasion. Another Everton player, Phil Jagielka, suffered a particularly harrowing episode in 2009 when he was held at knifepoint by an armed gang who broke into his house and forced him to open the safe. Barry and his family are the latest victims of the highly upsetting targeting of footballers, with burglars fully aware of valuables kept on site.  Charlene appealed for any information that might lead to the burglars being caught On Thursday evening before he heard the news of the break-in, Barry played the full 90 minutes for Everton and scored in the impressive victory. The Toffees ran out 3-1 winners in the fourth-round clash and will travel to play Fleetwood in the next stage. Despite the win, much of the discussion on the night surrounded Jack Grealish’s absence as he was dropped for failing to turn up to training. Grealish was said to be ill when he missed Saturday’s trip to Arsenal, which Everton lost 2-0. But now the Manchester City loanee has been reprimanded for failing to show for Monday’s work-out and was not part of the matchday squad on Thursday night.Unusually, the club gave the reason in a statement on social media which accompanied the team news: ‘Jarrad Branthwaite remains sidelined for a second successive game due to concussion protocols, while Jack Grealish is unavailable for selection due to a breach of Club discipline.’
