Celtic striker Callum Osmand is braced for a hostile affair when title rivals Hearts visit Parkhead on Sunday afternoon. The teams will clash for the first time since Celtic’s dramatic – and highly controversial – last-gasp win on the final day of last season to clinch the title. It was Osmand who scored the third and final goal deep into stoppage-time which then sparked a mass pitch invasion as Celtic snatched it at the death. There have since been major recriminations and criminal prosecutions on the back of Celtic fans entering the pitch and accosting Hearts players. There is still a lot of bad blood on the Hearts side in terms of how things played out in arguably the most dramatic final day in the history of Scottish football.Osmand expects Hearts to be title challengers once again – and fully expects another lively clash on Sunday afternoon. Obviously what they’ve done last season was amazing.‘They lost a few key players, but they brought in some good players and they’re a really top side, so we can’t underestimate them.‘We’re just going to need to keep ticking away and hopefully we get a good result. I think it could be a different type of challenge against them compared to last season. It will be tough.‘We should be working hard and hopefully we come away with a good result. We’ll have to pick ourselves up from Benfica and hopefully we get three points against them.’Osmand had been out of action for almost two months before coming off the bench to make his comeback in the second half of Thursday night’s Europa League defeat to Benfica in Lisbon.Celtic looked much more dangerous as an attacking force with Osmand and Haissem Hassan on the wings and Camilo Duran playing through the middle as the striker.Osmand is determined to try and knuckle down and get a run of games under his belt to prove his worth to Martin O’Neill’s side. There is a chance that O’Neill may look to freshen up the forward line this afternoon, particularly given the misfiring Kasper Hogh continues to struggle for form.‘It was a really good feeling to be back on the pitch,’ said Osmand. ‘It’s obviously a tough one to come into. Benfica were a really, really good side.‘But, yeah, it felt good. When you’re out there, you don’t really think about anything but playing. But, yeah, I’m so glad to be back on the pitch and hopefully I can stay on it this time.‘I’m comfortable playing anywhere across the front line because I’m on the pitch, to be honest. But, yeah, not that I’ve never played there, I’ve rarely played left wing before.‘It’s something that I still need to learn the ins and outs of. But I thought I’d done alright when I came on.‘I was just trying to be as confident as possible and just trying to forget about everything around me and just go and try and make something happen.‘But, yeah, it was a really tough game to come into. Wherever I’m needed, I feel like I’ll just give my all to play there.‘It’s been tough for me. It’s a frustrating one. The hamstring one was a freak one and then the ankle was a tiny little one that’s like just an annoying one.‘No one is more frustrated than me and I just want to be on the pitch and I can understand the frustrations with everyone.‘Like I say, I’m the one that will be the most frustrated out of everyone. But it is hopefully, fingers crossed, I just stay on the pitch now.‘I’m going to make sure I do everything I can to stay fit and, hopefully, touch wood, nothing happens.’
