Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has agreed a new contract in a deal that will likely take him beyond a decade as the club’s manager. The Gunners boss, who led his side to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season, is already the longest-serving manager in the top flight by nearly three years.He took the reins from Unai Emery at the Emirates in December 2019, and has revolutionised the side, helping them return to the top table with European football’s elite by guiding them to the Champions League final.And he has now been rewarded for success with a mega-money deal. He has been earning £10million-a-year, but it is understood his salary will now increase markedly with a generous bonus package. His current deal runs until the end of the season, but Tuesday’s news shuts down any uncertainty over his future. He had already tried to cool those concerns, saying in August: ‘They don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here. He lifted the FA Cup in his first season in charge, while also winning the Community Shield the following year. Arsenal had won every game this season until the weekend, when they lost 3-0 at Brighton.
