Michael Wynn Jones, the husband of TV cook Delia Smith, has died at the age of 85.Wynn Jones’s death was announced by Norwich City, where he and Smith had been majority shareholders for 28 years.Smith and Wynn Jones stepped back from the board last year, after agreeing a deal to reduce their holding in the club to 10 per cent.The couple became honorary life presidents after stepping away.’Everyone at Norwich City is deeply saddened by the passing of our honorary life president, Michael Wynn Jones,’ a Norwich statement read.’Michael died peacefully at home on Monday morning, aged 85. Michael Wynn Jones, left, has died at the age of 85, Norwich City have announced’He will be greatly missed. ‘His family are grateful for the wonderful care provided by the community nursing team at St Elizabeth Hospice. ‘Our deepest condolences are with Delia and Tom, and with all of Michael’s family, friends and loved ones. ‘At the family’s request, we ask that their privacy be respected at this difficult time.’Outside of football, Wynn Jones had worked as an editor on several magazines, including Mirror Magazine and The Spectator.Wynn Jones founded and served as chairman of New Crane Publishing Ltd, as well as being the author of several books of biography and social history.Wynn Jones and Smith, who married in 1971, became majority shareholders in Norwich back in 1998.The Canaries were promoted to the Premier League on five occasions under their ownership, going up as Championship winners on three occasions.Norwich enjoyed a three-year spell in the top flight between 2011-12 and 2013-14, but also suffered five relegations from the Premier League during Wynn Jones and Smith’s time at the club.
