They called me in the morning and told me the clubs had already agreed. I had no doubts – it was a big step in my career. We had it done in a day, so now I can focus on the World Cup.’ Marc Cucurella has opened up on his move to Real Madrid following his shock £52million move from Chelsea His partner, Claudia, said she ‘doesn’t know how to say goodbye to my home’ at ChelseaCucurella had played for Barcelona’s academy but has now put pen to paper on a deal to join their arch rivals. The defender’s long-term partner, Claudia Rodriguez, meanwhile, appears to be the most shocked by a move that will see their young family leave England after five years in the Premier League at Brighton and then Chelsea.Posting on Instagram, she wrote: ‘I don’t know how to say goodbye to my home.’ Cucurella, though, has no doubts and is excited for his new life.’In the end, you have to respect all opinions,’ he said. ‘Everyone has their own.’I’m grateful for everything I experienced in Barcelona, ??but there are different phases in life. Real Madrid is a great club, one of the best, and the pressure will be immense. When you go to a club like that, it’s for the titles – they have 15 Champions Leagues, so hopefully I can win one with them.’My career hasn’t been easy, and having the opportunity to go to Real Madrid is a wonderful thing, a great way to cap off my career.
