Jaxson Dart suffered a sprained MCL on Monday night after the New York Giants quarterback sparked major injury concerns when his knee bent awkwardly in their loss to the Los Angeles Rams.According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Dart’s X-rays were negative and he’ll have an MRI on Tuesday. But while Dart is expected to miss some time, he has seemingly avoided a season-ending injury. Dart immediately grabbed at his knee after Rams defenders Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart smashed into him while he attempted a pass to tight end Theo Johnson on the opening drive.Young hit Dart from the quarterback’s right side, sending him into fellow linebacker Stewart, who undercut Dart’s legs, resulting in a hard fall onto the turf.The 23-year-old was able to walk off the field but was moving gingerly and looked frustrated. Things almost got even worse for the Giants when Malik Nabers, the team’s star wide receiver, was left in agony after suffering a suspected shoulder injury.Nabers was injured jockeying with Rams cornerback Trent McDuffie when he was targeted on a first-down pass towards the end of the first quarter.He immediately grabbed his right shoulder and ran to the sideline, where he was clearly in pain as he was examined by multiple trainers.When ESPN returned from a commercial break, Nabers was sat up on the bench and was massaging his shoulder. He eventually managed to return to the game.The 28-6 loss to the Rams at SoFi Stadium brought the Giants crashing back down to earth after their victory over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 1.During that statement win over their NFC East rivals, Dart threw for 230 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 54 yards.The former Ole Miss signal caller is hoping to take a big leap forward in his second year in the NFL after a promising but injury-plagued rookie year after the Giants drafted him No. 25 overall. Dart played in 14 games and made 12 starts as a rookie, sustaining a concussion in a Week 10 game against the Bears. He threw for 2,272 yards with 15 touchdowns and five interceptions and rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns. The injury to Dart also comes just 24 hours after fellow quarterbacks Jayden Daniels and Caleb Williams also suffered worrying injuries. Daniels dislocated his elbow when he tried to brace himself while stumbling during the Commanders’ 37-20 loss at Dallas. The same injury occurred last November and kept Daniels out a month before he tried to play again and aggravated it.Bears star Williams, meanwhile, was carted back to the locker room when he suffered a hamstring injury in their loss to the Vikings. Williams’ right hamstring injury is a ‘week-to-week’ situation and coach Ben Johnson admitted he doesn’t expect him to practice this week, although he hasn’t ruled him out for Chicago’s matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles next Monday night.
