Former Chelsea team doctor Dr Eva Carneiro has made a tongue-in-cheek jibe at Jose Mourinho in light of his comments about their infamous touchline row in a new documentary.Mourinho avoided apologising to Carneiro when opening up about their infamous touchline row for the first time in over a decade in his new three-part Netflix docu-series titled MOURINHO, which is released on Tuesday.The former Blues boss claimed he sees ‘a lady doctor is the same as a man’s doctor’ when addressing the incident which led to him agreeing a settlement with Carneiro after she took them to a tribunal in 2016 over claims that she was discriminated against by the manager.And on the same day that Mourinho’s quotes hit the headlines, Carneiro took to social media to make a light-hearted joke toward her former boss when announcing an exciting new chapter in her career.Taking to X, Carneiro wrote that her announcement, which will be revealed in Autumn, was a ‘Special One’ before adding a winky face emoji.’Bom Dia,’ her post started. ‘I have an announcement to make. This autumn!!!!’During a Premier League clash with Swansea City at the start of the 2015-16 season, Mourinho hit the roof when Carneiro and physio Jon Fearn went onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard, who had gone down seemingly injured.Dr Carneiro claimed that Mourinho sexually discriminated against her during his tirade and called her the ‘daughter of a wh***’ in his native Portuguese.Back in 2015, Mourinho called her ‘impulsive and naive’ in his first public reaction to her decision to treat Hazard. She was then dropped from first-team duties and left the club just a month later.Mourinho and Chelsea eventually agreed a settlement after Carneiro took them to a tribunal over claims that she was discriminated against by the manager, and constructively dismissed by the club.But 11 years on, Mourinho believes he treated Carneiro in the same manner that he would treat any other doctor who made what he deemed as a mistake.‘For me, a lady doctor is the same as a man’s doctor,’ Mourinho said in the docu-series. ‘So, as always, I use my vocabulary when I’m not happy. ‘There are words in moments where the tension is very, very high. Normally, people with football culture, with football DNA, with football background, they go over it in one second. In that case, it was different.’ The 63-year-old has spoken up about the incident for the first time in over a decade in Netflix’s new three-part docu-series MOURINHOHazard, who played under the now-63-year-old for two years, claimed ‘it was nothing special’ in the documentary, which is set to air on Tuesday, but ‘with Jose everything is bigger’.Footage shows that the Portuguese coach, who is now Real Madrid manager, shouted a whole host of expletives toward Carneiro and Fearn as they treated Hazard. He screamed phrases such as ‘f*** off, man’ and ‘f*** you, man’.’I’m not a doctor, but my eyes know when a player is injured, and they know when a player is not injured,’ Mourinho said in the docu-series.’I knew that he was not injured, but the doctors went to the pitch, and in that moment we were left with nine players.’Hazard was forced to come off the pitch for a brief period, as is the rule when a player receives medical treatment, leaving Chelsea with nine men after Thibaut Courtois had been sent off.Chelsea gave Dr Carneiro an unreserved apology, but Mourinho refused to say sorry and grinned as he left the tribunal.A deal was done in a back corridor of the court and Chelsea then issued a statement saying it ‘regretted the circumstances’ which led to the former club doctor leaving and ‘apologises unreservedly to her and her family for the distress caused’.The terms of the settlement remain secret, but during the tribunal it was revealed that Chelsea had previously offered £1.2million to silence Carneiro.Mourinho did not apologise after the incident or at the tribunal and there were no signs of an apology in the docu-series either.
