Former Cincinnati Bengals and Houston Texans star Joe Mixon has dropped a huge hint that he could make a return to the NFL.The 30-year-old running back, who missed the 2025 season through a mystery injury, was released by the Texans in March. Houston general manager Nick Caserio had previously said Mixon was sidelined by a ‘freak’ foot injury. Then, in July, reports emerged that the running back had told some teammates that ‘he is not going to play football anymore.’KPRC-2 Houston said Mixon had been dealing with issues surrounding blood flow to his injured foot, on which he ‘recently’ underwent another surgery. On Saturday, however, Mixon posted a video to social media which includes clips from his career and footage of him on the practice field. The soundtrack to the video, meanwhile, features people questioning what had happened to Mixon and whether the running back would ever play again. I’m back baby!’ Alongside the footage, Mixon posted an hourglass emoji. That was enough to convince many fans that a NFL comeback is on the horizon. But earlier this week, the 30-year-old launched a new company, ONE SOCK, which promises ‘Better balance. More power. Faster recovery.’ And Mixon’s latest social media video ends with the ONE SOCK logo.Without the two-time Pro Bowl selection, the Texans are 0-3 heading into week 4 of the new NFL season.Houston provided few details on Mixon’s recovery last season after announcing in training camp that he had sustained a foot injury away from the facility. It was only announced that the running back would miss ‘an extended period of time’. In January, head coach DeMeco Ryans had no further update on Mixon’s condition when asked if he will play next season.’I don’t know the answer to that right now,’ Ryans told reporters. ‘No clarity.’Ryans also refused to shed any further light on the injury that kept the running back on the non-football injury list throughout 2025.’He didn’t jump off a building,’ the coach said. ‘He wasn’t doing anything irresponsible. It was a freak thing.’
