Formula One star Esteban Ocon has denied reports of a physical clash with Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu.Ocon has been abruptly dropped for this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix and replaced by reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa. The Frenchman, who was due to leave the team at the end of the season anyway, got into a dispute about tyre strategy with race engineer Laura Mueller during Friday’s second practice session. And L’Equipe claim he got into a row with principal Komatsu which descended into a ‘possible physical altercation’.But Ocon wrote on X: ‘Last night, a difference in viewpoints led to a discussion with the parties involved. ‘Whilst I acknowledge that this took place, I categorically reject any reports or allegations suggesting that any form of physical violence was used to resolve any differences of any nature. Esteban Ocon has denied getting into a physical clash with Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu – but has been dropped for the Mexican Grand Prix ‘I strongly condemn violence in all its forms and firmly believe that disagreements should always be handled with professionalism, respect, and mutual understanding. I kindly ask that speculation be avoided while the matter is being addressed.’It is unclear if Ocon will drive for Haas in any of the remaining five races this season. The decision to demote Ocon for at least this weekend came following his argument with race engineer Mueller after the team tried to switch the tyre plan. Mueller told Ocon that he had to use the medium tyre compound rather than the soft as planned.Ocon, 30, hit back: ‘No, no. I want to do soft… don’t do that to me, come on.’The driver is fighting for his future in Formula One as he is set to be replaced by Formula 2 championship leader and Ferrari junior Rafael Camara at Haas.Sky Sports’ Ted Kravitz broke down the situation as such: ‘Esteban is on the market, he’s not here next year. ‘He wants to show that he’s got the best pace possible for the one seat that is up, which is Valtteri Bottas’ Cadillac seat, even though Cadillac has told us that Ocon is not in contention for that drive. ‘We understand that he went to see the team boss Ayao Komatsu and there was some kind of row. They had a big row and essentially Haas have sacked him. We don’t know any more details.’All we know is that logically, he got into an argument with Haas and Haas have sacked him, or benched him. It’s gone legal, Ayao Komatsu can’t say anything but that’s the situation.’
