Real Madrid player Raul Asencio has been banned from the roads for eight months after being convicted of drink-driving ahead of his sex tape sharing trial.The 23-year-old defender has also been fined £12,350.Details of the conviction emerged on Wednesday and were confirmed by court sources in Gran Canaria, where the footballer hails from.He was stopped at a police checkpoint while driving a Porsche Macan GTS in San Bartolome de Tirajana in the south of the holiday island around 6.30am on August 16.He pleaded guilty to drink-driving at court three days later in a speedy trial.The Los Blancos star, who is currently out injured, is understood to have been nearly four-times over the drink-drive limit in Spain, which stands at 0.25 milligrams of alcohol per litre in exhaled breath. Raul Asencio (right), pictured with influencer Selenia Suarez, has been charged with drink drivingAsencio’s reading was 0.90 milligrams per litre.The conviction is the latest setback for the footballer who is due to go on trial on Thursday over the alleged sharing of a sex tape involving a minor.He is accused of sharing the tape as well as distributing the intimate footage without consent.Both alleged victims have withdrawn their complaints against the footballer, paving the way for a probable acquittal.Public prosecutors continue to demand a prison sentence of two-and-a-half years on conviction but have said they will withdraw the charges against Asencio if the alleged victims ratify in court the apologies they say he offered them during the court investigation.Asencio’s former team-mates Ferran Ruiz, Juan Rodriguez and Andres Garcia are also set to stand trial.Ruiz, Rodriguez and Garcia are accused of recording and distributing sexual videos involving a minor and another woman.Asencio is not accused of being involved in the alleged incident.
