Bournemouth sources say they will only entertain negotiations for England’s newest international Alex Scott after they have established themselves in the Premier League once again this season – adding they do not intend on selling their star midfielder in January.Chelsea bid for Scott at least once in the summer, though contacts outside of Stamford Bridge have claimed the Blues submitted three offers in total worth up to £68million.Bournemouth stood firm on their not-for-sale stance, and insiders at the Vitality Stadium say the same attitude applies towards selling mid-season.They add now is not the time to negotiate with clubs, and that they are focusing only on winning matches with Scott’s help as they try to push up the Premier League table.Bournemouth are 17th after five games, working under a new head coach in Marco Rose, and juggling Europe for the first time. While winless in the top flight this term, they won 2-1 away at Real Sociedad in the Europa League, and beat Championship Lincoln 4-0 in the Carabao Cup.Bournemouth’s next league game is away at Chelsea on Saturday, October 10. Bournemouth sources insist they don’t intend to sell star midfielder Alex Scott in January despite serious interest from Chelsea Highly-rated midfielder Scott won his first England cap against the Czech Republic on TuesdayScott is contracted until 2028. Bournemouth have tried to tie the 23-year-old down to a new deal, opening talks before the summer to no success. Scott’s former club Bristol City will be due a sell-on fee when he leaves, having sold him for £25m in 2023. He won his first cap for his country against the Czech Republic on Tuesday. As well as Chelsea, multiple other clubs enquired about Scott in the summer. That included Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United and Manchester City, whose current crisis could deter transfer targets from joining, depending on what happens next in their case. While Bournemouth allowed Antoine Semenyo to join City last January, that was via his release clause worth £65m. Chelsea tried to entice them into selling Scott by showing a willingness to top that fee. Bournemouth proved they are willing to stick to their not-for-sale policy in the summer, and so their insistence ahead of this January will force Chelsea into considering other options if they want to add to their midfield this winter. They held talks for Roma’s Manu Kone previously, and bid for Monaco’s Lamine Camara on deadline day.CHELSEA SET UP SECRET FRIENDLYChelsea have arranged a behind-closed-doors friendly for this weekend against Championship side Portsmouth, Daily Mail Sport can reveal.Boss Xabi Alonso has shown a fondness for secret fixtures. Two were arranged at Cobham against League Two Crawley (a 3-1 win) and League One Bromley (a 3-0 win) in the summer before Chelsea embarked on their pre-season tour of Australia and Asia. The Portsmouth friendly will help certain players improve their match fitness before facing Bournemouth. That includes Marco Palestra, Chelsea’s £47m summer signing who is yet to make his competitive debut after a quad injury but has been involved in team training this week.Chelsea are likely to try to limit any details of their friendly with Portsmouth from being leaked – including who features – to avoid helping Bournemouth. Chelsea will play a behind-closed-doors friendly against Portsmouth this weekend, to help players like Marco Palestra (pictured) get up to fitnessBBC PULL ENZO FROM MOTD INTROThe BBC have scrubbed Enzo Fernandez from their Match of the Day opening credits – after starting this season with their montage including him in a Chelsea shirt. Now, he is nowhere to be seen in the intro, with his brief cameo replaced by footage of another ex-Chelsea player in Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall of Everton.NINE DAYS OFF… BUT MORE FOR SOMEChelsea allowed their non-internationals nine days off at the beginning of this international break, and they have now returned to team training, but some players are still following individual plans. The club prepared programmes tailored to each player’s circumstances, taking into account a range of performance and medical considerations.Cole Palmer, for example, was given an injury-specific training and recovery plan. Him travelling abroad on holiday met those parameters and was signed off by the club as he was accompanied by a personal rehab coach. The PFA chief executive Maheta Molango defended Palmer this week, saying he is ‘victim’ of a ‘sick’ system after he withdrew from England duty.Molango said: ‘You see people like Cole Palmer, someone who would have played four consecutive summers in a row had he gone to the World Cup, and you wonder why is he missing? He’s missing because he’s a victim of the calendar and that’s something that needs to absolutely trigger the alarm bells.‘What we’ve seen over the last few years is a system that’s sick.’ PFA chief executive Maheta Molango has defended Cole Palmer’s withdrawal from England duty, saying he is the ‘victim of a ‘sick’ system that is burning out top playersAI VIDEOS CONCERNING CLUBSMorgan Rogers and Declan Rice were squaring up to one another in the Arsenal changing room.Rogers: ‘Trip me up again, I dare you.’ Rice: ‘You mad London is red?’ Rogers punches Rice.Martin Odegaard barges in. Odegaard: ‘You joined the wrong club, Morgan. You will live to regret this mistake.’ Odegaard punches Rogers.Emiliano Martinez barges in. Martinez: ‘Rogers, I’ll save you.’ Odegaard: ‘You don’t know the definition of the word “save”.’ Martinez punches Odegaard. And on it goes. Obviously, none of it happened. It was AI slop. Just the latest deepfake created using Chelsea players. Thankfully, these videos are usually so outlandish that we immediately recognise they are fake. After all, who is going to believe Alonso went around his changing room punching his defenders one by one as punishment for conceding so many goals? However, some of these AI-generated videos can look realistic, and they are an ongoing concern within clubs. One Chelsea source described this new trend as ‘out of control’ when asked, and conceded they are limited in what they can do to prevent them, it being a challenge to stop Joe Bloggs from uploading this slop from his mum’s spare bedroom. When Fernandez was caught on camera in 2024 singing a song which the French football federation described as ‘racist and discriminatory’, it took time for Chelsea to respond officially. One reason for the delay was they had to verify the video was real. Morgan Rogers sees the funny side in deepfake videos of him confronting Declan Rice – but Chelsea sources fear the trend is ‘out of control’Chelsea have social media monitoring, but that is more focused towards abuse. The AI deepfake involving Rogers was shared on X, TikTok and the like, and then within the Chelsea changing room. The players saw it, Rogers included. The £117m signing chose to see the funny side when we asked him. In conversation with Confidential while on England duty, Rogers told us: ‘AI’s going to the next level now. Anything you do now can end up in anything. If it’s anything to do with me, I just laugh about it.’ We did remind him that it showed him punching Rice. ‘Did I win?’ Think so. ‘It’s about right, then!’Palmer does not find it quite as funny, having signed up to a campaign called My Name, My Face, created by law firm Mills & Reeve. They are asking the government to implement a dedicated personality rights law which provides appropriate protection against unauthorised and exploitative uses of names, likenesses, voices and other elements of personal identities.
