A Cleveland Browns tight end is on the verge of becoming the first football player to re-enter the college ranks.Dae’Quan Wright, an undrafted free agent signing out of Mississippi, is set to be waived by the Browns.According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, if he clears waivers, he has an agreement in place to return to college football and transfer to LSU.Wright was a second-team All-SEC selection last season with the Rebels under former coach Lane Kiffin. Now, Wright is set to return to college and will play under Kiffin in Baton Rouge.This previously uncharted territory comes after Wright secured a temporary restraining order from a Louisiana state court which granted him a fifth season of eligibility in college.Wright’s efforts come after multiple college basketball players have sued the NCAA for a fifth year of eligibility, resulting in a legal battle that has gone on for months as the basketball season approaches in November. There are multiple other players looking to follow in his footsteps. ‘I wondered why Lane Kiffin reached out a week ago,’ Browns coach Todd Monken said on Saturday.’Now I know. I didn’t call him back, I guess now I should’ve.’Wright’s career began in 2022 when he played two seasons at Virginia Tech before transferring to Mississippi.Last season, he caught 39 passes for 635 yards and five touchdowns.
