Alexis Mac Allister’s father has firmly shut down speculation of a potential move for his son to Real Madrid, according to reports. The Liverpool star has enjoyed a strong World Cup campaign with Argentina, reaching the final before defeat to winners Spain on Sunday afternoon. But as Mac Allister prepares to return to his club after a well-deserved break, his father Carlos has been quick to stamp out suggestions that he is set for a new season away from Anfield. Spanish media first hinted at a potential move this week, with Defensa Central claiming that Mac Allister and his representatives had offered him to Real Madrid. But speaking to online outlet 365scores, the elder Mac Allister left no room for misinterpretation. ‘We have not spoken with any official at Real Madrid,’ his statement read. ‘What is being circulated about us holding talks with Real Madrid is not true. Alexis Mac Allister is not thought to be agitating for a move to Real Madrid, according to his father Carlos’Mac Allister is still under contract for two seasons at Liverpool, and currently he will get some rest for a few days, and then return to play in the Premier League, and that is the current situation.’Mac Allister has featured for the Merseyside club since his move from Brighton in 2023, but Real Madrid has had a sharp-elbowed summer in the market so far. As well as prising former coach Jose Mourinho away from Benfica ahead of the World Cup, the Spanish giants inked a £60million deal to bring Marc Cucurella to the capital from Chelsea. Mac Allister’s team-mate Ibrahima Konate has also made the move to LaLiga with Los Blancos, departing Liverpool as a free agent. Real Madrid have similarly secured former Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva, while Denzel Dumfries was tempted away from Inter Milan after the club activated his £17.1m release clause. Carlos previously acted as his son’s spokesperson in April 2025, when Real Madrid previously appeared to be circling the Premier League winner. Mac Allister had given a vague response to a question posed by AS suggesting that he could see himself playing in Spain ‘one day’ due to the country’s similarity to his own. Then, Carlos squashed the potential for rumours to blossom saying: ‘Alexis is very happy where he is.’ Mac Allister was among the 16 national team players who returned to Buenos Aires after losing their World Cup final, with missing team-mates opting to return to their clubs or begin their holidays from the USA or Europe.
