Posing for photographers at the launch of a restaurant on Manchester’s Deansgate this week, Kelly Osbourne cut something of a lonely figure.She joined a gang of Coronation Street actors and a handful of local DJs to publicise the venue – company that was not quite the Hollywood and rock royalty she usually surrounds herself with.There was someone else missing too – her mother Sharon. Mother and daughter have been inseparable since Ozzy’s death in July 2025, relying heavily on each other as they negotiate their way through the grief.Indeed, at the Brit Awards this year, they clutched onto one another all night as they accepted a posthumous Lifetime Achievement Award for the late Black Sabbath legend.But in what has been a terribly sad turn of events, I can reveal Kelly and Sharon are today barely speaking.Meanwhile, Kelly’s once close relationship with her older brother Jack is also said to be strained, according to sources close to the family.And now, 21 years after At Home with the Osbournes ended – the reality show that catapulted the family to global fame and astonishing wealth – she is actively extricating herself from the Osbourne brand.For I can reveal Kelly, 41, is making a fresh start, rebuilding her life and career in the UK amid a growing family rift. Kelly and Sharon Osbourne arrive at the BRIT Awards in Manchester on February 28 this year Mother and daughter have been inseparable since Ozzy’s death in July 2025, relying heavily on each other through unimaginable grief Kelly arrived in the UK this week to attend the star-studded opening of Sister Moon, a new rooftop restaurant in ManchesterThose familiar with the situation say it is no surprise Kelly has been seen solo so regularly of late.This is her way, confides my source, of distancing herself from her mother’s increasingly strident political views.While Kelly is, according to friends, ‘a big Leftie’ her mother is said to be a ‘Trump fanatic’.Those in the know say politics is at the heart of many of their recent disagreements, with Kelly firmly on the liberal side of the political landscape, backing LGBT causes and liberal ideals, while Sharon veers heavily to the Right.‘They’ve been through a lot, and Ozzy’s passing really united the family publicly, but they’ve also become very separate and very different people,’ says my source.‘Kelly sees herself as very liberal, woke and modern, the rest of her family are more conservative leaning, and they’ve clashed a lot, she couldn’t be more different to her mum and brother right now.‘Kelly has decided to go it alone and decided to make her move to the UK and will raise her son here when most of her family including her mum are spending much of their time in LA.‘They’re worlds apart just now in every possible sense. She’s a long way away from Sharon, and her brother Jack, both geographically and ideologically.’Sharon, 73, is such a vociferous supporter of Right-wing causes she is even understood to have attended the Unite The Kingdom march in London earlier this year.This week, while attending the National Television Awards in London – again without her family – Kelly admitted she has found her mother’s hardline views increasingly uncomfortable. ‘I don’t agree with my mum. That’s one thing that I can say I don’t agree with her on.‘It’s hard because I love my mum, but I also have to understand that she’s entitled to her own opinions as well.‘And it’s really hard when it comes to politics and things like that, but that’s not for me.’As a result there has been a dramatic cooling in relations between the women who had relied on one another so greatly.Kelly is believed to have recently bought her own rural idyll in Buckinghamshire where she plans to raise her son Sidney, three. Her mother, meanwhile, continues to divide her time between the family’s LA mansion and Welders House, the family estate, also in Buckinghamshire, where Ozzy is buried.For Kelly, the last 15 months have been torrid. She recently admitted that ‘a part of me died, too’ when her father, who had Parkinson’s disease, passed away after a cardiac arrest.Her grief led to dramatic weight loss and she’s had to endure nasty trolling on social media, along with unfounded accusations that she was using weight loss drug, Ozempic.And then in March this year, she split from her fiancé, Slipknot DJ Sid Wilson, Sidney’s father.The split, say friends has been ‘difficult and dramatic,’ something Kelly herself gave an insight into in a series of angry posts on Instagram last month.‘Wake up and take responsibility,’ she wrote. ‘I’m done. I want to be happy and I have a beautiful son to raise.’In another post she said: ‘Also while I’m at it can I have my dogs back and all my possessions. Oh yeah and maybe some child support?’Following the split, Sharon was a huge support.‘Kelly’s split was far from easy,’ says a friend. ‘It still isn’t, Sid isn’t the easiest person to deal with and there is a lot of animosity.‘Sharon is the most loyal woman you could have on your side and she has always been there for her.’But mother and daughter are said to be no longer close, with Kelly ‘facing being a single mother going it alone, not just without a partner but without her mum being around either’.Kelly has made it clear she isn’t desperate to have a slice of the £200million estate her mother took control of when Ozzy died.Keen to stand on her own two feet, she’s become a regular on the UK showbiz circuit.As well as the recent restaurant opening in Manchester, she has also been spotted attending events for fashion houses Vivienne Westwood and Louis Vuitton as well as turning up to an event at a London art gallery.Other outings at heavily sponsored events included attending Royal Ascot with designer Karen Millen, a cocktail party for fashion house Rebecca Vallance and a Fortnum & Mason launch for an expensive new range of cookery products.Her new direction comes after signing up with showbiz management agency Keye Talent, whose other clients include tearaway Freddie Brazier, son of the late Jade Goody, and reality star Lottie Tomlinson – sister of One Direction singer Louis.While exact details of the fees she commands for attending these events remain confidential, it’s understood several of her recent appearances commanded substantial amounts with brands believed to pay in the region of £10,000 per outing.‘Turning up to events is big business – and an easy way to make fast cash to set up her new life,’ reveals my source.‘Fashion designers will pay stars to wear their clothes at major events, and other businesses are more than happy to hand over five-figure sums just to get a celebrity at their opening event or party.‘Kelly needs the money, she is going it alone now and doesn’t want to rely on family money.‘She’s got a huge profile and is connected to one of the most famous families in the world, but just at the moment she’s on the outside and is trying to fend for herself. It’s a growing rift, and the divide is more obvious with every week that passes. Nobody knows what the future holds.’Friends say that while Kelly is regularly in the limelight, she is enjoying her new life in her country idyll, a charming farm.‘It’s a very, very different life to the one she lived as a child and teenager,’ says another source. ‘She grew up in a mansion in Beverly Hills and could have anything she wanted.‘But she’s changed, she enjoys the more simple things in life and is taking great pride in earning her own money.‘She has taken control which is great but at the same time she has distanced herself from Sharon at a time when they probably need one another the most.’
