Trina Braxton’s husband Von Scales has died at age 58.According to TMZ, Scales died around 2 AM on Thursday in Atlanta. He had been battling heart-related problems, but an official cause of death is still unknown. The family confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement on Thursday, telling TMZ, ‘It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Von Scales, beloved husband of Trina Braxton.’They added, ‘The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers but is asking for privacy at this time as they navigate this unfortunate event.’Scales previously appeared on the Braxton family’s popular reality shows Braxton Family Values and The Braxtons. In a following scene, Scales was warned by his doctor that he could die without further treatment because his potassium levels were dangerously high.’I told you to go to hospital at seven o’clock in the morning because I received a phone call from my lab that you had a critical potassium level of seven,’ Dr. Brandy Brown told him.’Your potassium should never be that high. And when I get something critical, it’s not a suggestion,’ she stressed.Scales argued back, stating that he didn’t want to go to hospital because he was concerned about ‘ruining’ Towanda’s wedding.’It’s called dead,’ Dr. Brown shot back. ‘If you were to fall out dead in the middle of the wedding, then what? Their wedding was featured on a 2019 episode of WeTV’s Braxton Family Values.Braxton Family Values ran for seven seasons from 2011 to 2020 on WeTV, becoming one of the network’s highest-rated shows.It also spawned the successful spin-off Tamar & Vince, which ran from 2012 to 2017.The original series was revived by the network in 2024 as The Braxtons, and has so far produced two seasons.
