Shaun Wallace has detailed his gruelling fitness routine which sees him do 2000 sit-ups and 300 kettlebell swings a day.The Chase star, 66, also known to fans as The Dark Destroyer, has undergone a huge physical change in the past few years, shedding an impressive three and half stone in the process. And amid his weight loss, Shaun quipped in an exclusive interview that he wouldn’t rule out a shirtless photoshoot to show off the fruits of his labour – but only if the ‘money is right’. Fans of the star are used to seeing a suited and booted Shaun put contestants through their paces on the ITV quizzing show, but away from the studio, Shaun works just as hard on his own appearance.Shaun told the Daily Mail: ‘The first thing I do every single morning is my physical exercise’ explaining how in addition to his usual 2000 sit-ups, he’s introduced a ‘kettlebell challenge where I swing a kettlebell 300 times a day’.The TV star also works as a criminal defence barrister and after a day in court, or a day filming The Chase, it’s straight back to the gym for another intense workout. He’s in New York at the moment, so he sets me rowing challenges – yesterday I rowed 10,000 metres, and the day before that I rowed 8,000 metres, on the rowing machine I’ve got up in my loft.’Alongside his fitness regime, Shaun eats a relatively healthy diet, starting the day off with a banana before having a lunch or dinner which he states has ‘got to be something fish-related’ to boost his omega-3. Shaun’s Instagram profile is full of workout videos of him showing a glimpse of his trimmed down frame in tight sports T-shirts and the star hinted he wouldn’t say no to showing off his physique in a professional shirtless shoot if the terms were right.’If I get invited to do one and the money’s right, of course I’ll do it,’ he said.Likewise, when asked if he’d consider filming a workout video or a similar fitness collaboration, Shaun – who in January stripped down off his T-shirt for an Instagram workout – remarked: ‘If I’m asked, I’ll do it.’However, he made it clear that it wouldn’t necessarily be for ‘commercial gain’, but rather for his ‘own physical and personal development at the age of 66’. Shaun went on to say that older people tell him ‘all that time’ that he has inspired them to get fit, with the quizzer remarking: ‘I think everybody has a responsibility to invest in their own health – that’s why we need to help the NHS as best we can. ‘There’s an obesity crisis and a mental health crisis, and I’m not saying training is a cure-all for mental health issues, but if you’re physically fit in body and mind, it does help your mental agility. That’s why I always say you should feed your mind with information – it keeps you involved and engaged. ‘ The Chase star, 66, also known to fans as The Dark Destroyer, has undergone a huge physical change in the past few years, shedding an impressive three and half stone in the process ‘The first thing I do every single morning is my physical exercise’ explaining how in addition to his usual 2000 sit-ups, he’s introduced a ‘kettlebell challenge where I swing a kettlebell 300 times a day’ Shaun insists that there is no rivalry between himself and Mark Labbett when it comes to their health journeys, with Shaun going on to praise his pal’s effortsAnd it’s not just the obesity crisis that drives him, with Shaun revealing that it was his late parents’ physical deterioration amid their diabetes battles that inspired him to overhaul his lifestyle and be mentally and physically fit.He shared: ‘My mum and dad are, as I say, my greatest joy and my greatest inspiration – I’ve got a mural dedicated to them alongside other inspiring figures in my house. ‘My mum and dad both got diabetes quite early, and I thought it was incumbent on me not to fall into the same trap, even though you can never really tell whether or not you’ll get a particular disease, especially if it’s prevalent in your family.’I used to play football and run a lot, and I decided when I turned 50 that, to invest in my own physical and mental wellbeing, I would exercise daily.’Shaun isn’t the only Chaser to show off their weight loss of late, with Mark ‘The Beast’ Labbett impressing fans with his incredible 10 stone weight loss. However, Shaun insists that there is no rivalry between the two when it comes to their health journeys, with Shaun going on to praise his pal’s efforts. He said: ‘We’re quite close mates, and I remember when he had type 2 diabetes, I did say to him that he really had to look after himself, though it wasn’t me telling him what to do, he knew anyway. ‘It was a credit to him that he put himself through that rigorous fitness regime and watched his diet, and obviously having a young son to run after helped shed the weight too. Fair play to him.’Shaun was speaking on behalf of Gambling.com.
