Robin Williams’ daughter Zelda has criticised an AI-generated video of her late father, calling for makers to ‘have some shame’. The actress and director, 37, took to social media on Monday to call out a recent video which falsely depicts the legendary actor discussing conspiracy theories, branding it ‘robotic and terrible’.In an impassioned rant, Zelda urged people to stop circulating AI videos of her father, telling them to leave him out of ‘your delusional bulls**t’ and to instead honour his memory. Hollywood legend Robin – who starred in huge movies including Good Will Hunting, Jumanji, Mrs Doubtfire – died by suicide at the age of 63 in 2014 at his home in Tiburon, Paradise Cay, California.In the years since his death, unauthorised AI-generated deepfake videos and voice recreations have circulated online, with Zelda and Robin’s family begging people not to use his likeness or voice in fake content. Slamming the most recent fake video, Zelda wrote on her Instagram stories: ‘For those still being duped by falsehoods, that supposedly ‘private video’ of dad that I’ve been shown talking about conspiracies is clearly Al, and not even particularly convincing Al. In October 2025, she penned on Instagram: ‘Please, just stop sending me AI videos of Dad. Stop believing I wanna see it or that I’ll understand, I don’t and I won’t. If you’re just trying to troll me, I’ve seen way worse, I’ll restrict and move on. Along with Zelda, the late actor also has a son, Cody, 34, with his second wife Marsha Garces, as well as a son Zak, 43, with his first wife Valerie Velardi.Zelda previously weighed in on the use of artificial intelligence in using the voices and likenesses of stars without their involvement and/or consent during the SAG-AFTRA strike in 2023.She said her father would have been ‘fighting the good fight’ with the acting union.Zelda wrote in an Instagram Story: ‘I’ve witnessed for YEARS how many people want to train these [AI] models to create/recreate actors who cannot consent, like Dad.’I’ve already heard AI used to get his “voice” to say whatever people want and while I find it personally disturbing, the ramifications go far beyond my own feelings,’ she wrote.’Living actors deserve a chance to create characters with their choices, to voice cartoons, to put their HUMAN effort and time into the pursuit of performance.’These recreations are, at their very best, a poor facsimile of greater people, but at their worst, a horrendous Frankensteinian monster, cobbled together from the worst bits of everything this industry is, instead of what it should stand for.’
