Perez Hilton suffered multiple broken bones the night of his horror self-harm livestream

Perez Hilton suffered multiple broken bones after falling on the night of his self-harm livestream earlier this month. The celebrity blogger, 48, is still recovering from his wounds in the hospital after he cut himself with a knife during an August 4 livestream on TikTok.And on Monday, his brother-in-law Tom, who is married to Hilton’s sister, Barbara, revealed that his injuries are far more severe than initially thought during a new episode of The Perez Hilton Podcast with Chris Booker.Tom said that Hilton, whose real name is Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr, fell several times during the night of his livestream, resulting in broken bones. He added that doctors do not know yet what caused Hilton’s ‘mental break’ and that he has not been able to see his three children since the incident.  Aside from the broken bones, doctors also discovered other ‘unrelated’ issues requiring treatment, which stemmed from Hilton’s battle with sepsis in March. Tom also addressed online speculation that Hilton may have experienced ‘sepsis psychosis,’ but said he does not know whether that was the case and is unsure how doctors diagnose it.  Perez Hilton, 48, suffered multiple broken bones after falling on the night of his self-harm livestream earlier this month; Hilton pictured in 2023The Daily Mail has reached out to Hilton’s representatives for comment. His sister Barbara, 42, discovered Hilton naked and covered in blood in the bathroom of the Miami home he shares with his mother Teresita Lavandeira, 72, and his three children. She ushered the children into her car and drove away as Hilton chased them into the street and banged on the windows, according to a police report.Hilton then locked himself inside the house and cut himself with a knife before first responders were able to coax him out and treat him for lacerations and an overdose. He wasalso treated for ‘significant’ blood loss and undisclosed injuries. After being asked about Hilton’s current state of mind, Tom said he is ‘lucid,’ though he is unsure how much Hilton remembers from that night. He added that doctors have been focusing on treating his physical injuries for now.Hilton has also not seen his three children yet. His mom Teresita filed for temporary legal custody of Mario, 13, Mia, 11, and Mayte, eight, after the incident.’I think it’s all things that need to be done with the advice of psychiatric help. I think it’s a lot. It’s a lot for the kids. It’s a lot for him,’ Tom said.Tom added that during Hilton’s ‘mental break’ the blogger thought he was doing ‘what’s best for the children.”Obviously, since the incident, now that he’s lucid, we’ve explained to him that type of thinking is absolutely not true. These kids adore him, and he’s been a present father.’ The celebrity blogger is still recovering from his wounds in the hospital after he cut himself with a knife during an August 4 livestream; pictured in hospital earlier this year On Monday, his brother-in-law Tom revealed that Hilton fell several times during the night of his livestream, resulting in broken bones; Hilton seen in 2025 Hilton has also not seen his three children yet. She’s always been somewhat of a motherly figure to them.’Hilton is not currently able to have electronics, but can call people from the hospital phone. Tom went on to share that the next step will be for Hilton to enter a facility focused on his ‘mental recovery.’ ‘However long that takes… is however long that takes. I don’t think you’re going to see him pop up in a few days,’ he added.  Last week, The Daily Mail exclusively revealed that Hilton will need ‘psychiatric clearance’ before he can see his three children again.A Miami court agreed that Teresita should have sweeping authority over their schooling, healthcare and ‘all things necessary for the care of the children.’Hilton was hospitalized under Florida’s Baker Act, which allows for the temporary involuntary detention of individuals in mental health crisis. The act’s provisions will kick in when he’s medically discharged from the hospital, giving doctors a 72-hour window to transfer him to a psychiatric facility and evaluate him.Hilton could walk free when the clock runs down if they decide he’s not a risk to himself or others. But that’s a ‘long shot’ according to Mark Astor, a veteran Florida attorney specializing in Baker Act cases. There are three possibilities, according to Astor, a former prosecutor, defense attorney and partner at Astor Simovitch Law.’Number one, they could release him. Number two, they get him to agree to stay on a voluntary basis.”Or number three, they could file what’s known as a petition for involuntary placement,’ Astor explained. The latter would involve a Miami-Dade judge holding a hearing within five days to decide whether Hilton should remain locked up. The case would be confidential – with media barred from attending or hearing any of the details. The latest update comes after Hilton’s sister Barbara offered a chilling eyewitness account of his shocking self-harm livestream.Barbara told Page Six that she became frightened for Hilton’s well-being after bursting into his bathroom and being confronted with the sight of him ‘standing in front of the shower, naked, cut up, covered in blood, with a box cutter in his hand.’She hauntingly shared that she ‘didn’t recognize my brother,’ that his eyes ‘didn’t look the same’ and that his smile made her feel she ‘was staring at someone else.’Barbara immediately whisked the children out to the car in a frantic effort to shield them from the ‘nightmare’ unfolding inside the house.Hilton’s sister, who was visiting him from California, said she made her way back inside and attempted to stifle his bleeding with towels while awaiting the ambulance.’He had already lost a significant amount of blood, yet he was somehow still able to speak, although his voice was very faint,’ she said. ‘The ambulance took him to the hospital, and I stayed behind to speak with the crisis team that arrived.’ Hilton launched his celebrity gossip blog back in 2004 which was originally called PageSixSixSix.com. Shortly after, he changed the name to PerezHilton.com; Seen in 2008That date, August 4, ‘will forever be one of the darkest days my family and I have ever experienced,’ Barbara said.Surveillance footage from a neighbor’s house captured the moment when law enforcement arrived at Hilton’s residence in Miami after fans reached out to 911 over concerns for his welfare.Police cars could be seen pulling up to the home not long after 7pm on Tuesday evening. Law enforcement was then seen trying to coax Hilton out of his home in the video.A deputy was heard calling out: ‘Mario, it’s the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, please step out of the house.’Clips taken from the footage appeared to show the media personality covered in blood while brandishing a knife. The livestream video has since been taken down by TikTok, and his account has also been suspended. If you or someone you know needs help in the US, please call or text the confidential 24/7 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline at 988.
