When Zendaya promoted her movie Challengers, in which she played a tennis prodigy-turned- coach, she famously teamed her custom-made Loewe dress with stiletto heels adorned with yellow tennis balls. The actress was later seen at Centre Court watching the 2024 Wimbledon finals wearing a succession of Ralph Lauren suits, prompting her husband Tom Holland, star of the Spider-Man franchise, to compliment her.The actor, who grew up four miles away in Kingston-on-Thames and went to school at Wimbledon College, told GQ magazine: ‘She just looked so beautiful and so at home. It meant so much for her to be in a place that I call home and look like such a part of our community.’Now the couple, who met on the set of Spider-Man and married earlier this year, have bought a house in the heart of leafy Wimbledon, close to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, which hosts the tournament. The nearly £9million property has no fewer than four reception rooms, and, according to the estate agents, ‘offers an outstanding blend of space, privacy and versatility’.It is set in nearly an acre of land and even comes with a separate cottage. Suitably enough for the location, it has a tennis court, so they can practise their game. But that privacy might be short-lived as the house is adjacent to the historic Grade II Wimbledon Park Golf Club, a luxurious course shaped in a giant horseshoe around a lake, and dotted with oak trees planted by the renowned landscape gardener Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown. The All England Club wants to build an 8,000-seat stadium and 38 courts on the ground. The future of the golf course, which was closed after the club members sold the leasehold to the All England Club for £65 million, now hangs in the balance awaiting a judgment by the Court of Appeal. It is not known what Tom, who is a keen golfer, and Zendaya plan to do with the property – they haven’t yet been spotted by locals – but their PA has been seen making regular checks and they have hired a gardener to look after the land.A neighbour told The Mail on Sunday: ‘My youngest is very excited that Spider-Man is going to be living across the street, I told him, ‘You will have to kick a ball a long way to reach their back garden’. I doubt they will have a housewarming party.’Both Tom and Zendaya, who currently live in a £2.5million house in Richmond, are renowned for keeping a low profile, shopping at their local Waitrose in New Malden and taking guided tours of Hampton Court Palace. Both are being talked of as possible Oscar contenders – Zendaya for her role in Dune: Part Three and Tom for playing Telemachus in Christopher Nolan’s epic movie The Odyssey. The couple declined to comment.
