Modest Mouse guitarist Simon O’Connor has been booted from the band’s upcoming shows, after the musician was involved in an online controversy involving a teenage girl. The other members of the indie group announced the news on Instagram on Friday, bluntly stating: ‘Simon O’Connor will not be accompanying us on the upcoming tour,’ In the post, the band announced that Les Savy Fav guitarist Seth Jabour would be ‘jumping in to play guitar.’It was not explicitly stated whether or not O’Connor’s exclusion on the tour was linked to recent accusations made by a Reddit user who claimed that he had sent her inappropriate messages even though her profile made clear she had only recently turned 17.In July 26 post, the teenager said that after she ‘spam liked whatever it was Simon had put on his story,’ O’Connor, 42, replied with a DM of ‘an erotic image,’ later giving her ‘the excuse he had been partying or whatever’ before ‘continuing to message’ her.The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Modest Mouse for further comment on the story.
