Mel B’s daughter Phoenix Chi Brown has bagged her first acting role as she landed a part in Hollyoaks.While Spice Girl Mel, 51 – who shares the 27-year-old with ex-husband, Jimmy Gulzar, also 51 – has carved out a successful career as a singer and TV judge, Phoenix is heading in a different direction with a minor role on the Channel 4 soap. Phoenix is set to appear alongside Hollyoaks stalwart Kieron Richardson, whose character Ste Hay is kidnapped in a dramatic plot set in a shopping centre.In scenes to air on Wednesday, September 2, Phoenix’s character will have a ‘fleeting interaction’ with Ste in the special episode filmed at Runcorn Shopping City, reports The Sun.In promotional soap pictures, DJ Phoenix can be seen eating lunch at a table in the shopping complex while Ste sits nearby on his phone ahead of being snatched. Donning a red and white striped sweater and dark cargo trousers, Phoenix is snapped looking over at the character, who is unaware of his impending fate. Speaking to Radio Times amid the documentary’s release, she said: ‘I can’t deny that having Mel B as my mum has opened a few doors. ‘However, there’s been rising anger in recent years with what appears to be more and more children of famous people making it in the entertainment industries. ‘Even when nepo babies are great at their job, they face a backlash fuelled by misunderstanding, jealousy or resentment. The issue has never before sparked so much hate or become so febrile and poisonous.’In the documentary, she asks: ‘I wonder why society has accepted the ultimate nepo baby in the Royal family but not in the world of celebs?”Nepotism is everywhere, no matter what area you work in. It’s just that the entertainment industry is very visible. ‘It’s clear there is a problem … but we will get nowhere by targeting nepo babies as individuals. We must explore the bigger societal issues.’
