I’ll never work again.” And that really scared me,’ she continued.’So I said, “OK, let’s assume that’s going to happen and let’s sit with that fear” and then I thought, ‘Well, the first thing I would do is, why should I live in California as a single woman?,” ‘Today, her former agricultural property is ‘unique in that it will be attractive to a wide range of buyers,’ Lujan told Mansion Global. ‘Unlike some that are specifically agricultural, or pure hunting, or pure fishing properties—this has just enough of everything.’ In addition to a central atrium, the primary dwelling is highlighted by a spacious great room with dual fireplaces; a handsome bookshelf-lined library A formal dining room is connected just off the gourmet kitchen featuring soaring wood beams, ample light from windows on all sides and elaborate New Mexico tile work There property also features an expansive event space with an additional gourmet kitchen, two apartments and equestrian facilities showcasing a 10-stall Morton pole barn with a sandy outdoor dressage areaThe ranch getaway’s 70 acres of irrigated meadows have been used to grow high-quality alfalfa, medicinal herbs and other crops ever since St. Louis native Mason launched a biodynamic organic farm there after relocating in the early 1990s. Alas, Mason admitted her ‘woo-woo’ escape led to a very real sense of responsibility to her land—and the people who made their livings from it.’I’m getting poor here,’ Mason told journalist Charles Osgood in 2002. “Because I can’t get a farm to pay for itself. That’s why we’re going to try this line of products to see if we can help the farm pay for itself and then the profits will go into a foundation and profit-sharing for the men and women here.’She continued, ‘The acting that I do totally subsidizes the farm. It’s the only reason why I get panicky about not working.’The actress and state director eventually sold the property in 2014, according to reps at Hall and Hall. The most recent owner has not been identified. However, the listing represents a $2.5 million price drop from its previous $16 million ask in 2024, according to The Robb Report.Meanwhile, Mason continues to act. The veteran thespian was last seen on Broadway in 2024 when she earned raves for stepping in to cover for an ailing Mia Farrow—with zero rehearsal no less!—in The Roommate co-starring Patti LuPone.  She can now be seen in the seasonal film Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story, which premiered on streaming earlier this month via the Hallmark+ platform.
