Marisa Tomei revealed how she stays fit and youthful at age 61 without stepping foot into the gym.The Oscar-winning actress told People that she has a simple approach to health and wellness, which prioritizes ‘functional movement’ as well as adequate sleep.Despite having a busy schedule, Tomei also shared that she makes it a priority to slow down and spend time with family, which only contributes to her healthy lifestyle. ‘I like a lot of sleep,’ she said in the interview published on Friday. ‘I also need to be in nature. But I don’t even go to the gym.’I do exercise, but I tend to favor functional movement, like walking.’ Tomei’s interview remarks come after she famously left fans baffled with her age-defying appearance in a viral social media clip. Marisa Tomei revealed how she stays fit and healthy without stepping into the gym. The Oscar-winning actress, 61, shared her simple philosophy to health and wellness in a recent interview; pictured in JulyDuring her People interview, she discussed her intention behind cofounding a supplement company Terra Mare with the target of promoting simplicity and reducing pressure on women to chase perfection. ‘I would say that’s been a big part of my life,’ she said about striving towards the impossible feat. ‘Slowing down, remembering simplicity and letting go of perfectionism.’ She also credited her mother for teaching her the ‘simple’ habit. ‘I was really lucky that my mother, even though she worked, made a meal for us every day,’ she recalled. ‘And we all sat down together, and that simple and consistent thing was built into my nervous system,’ she said. ‘Shared laughter, shared insights, being together and in tune with one another is grounded in science — these are actually things our bodies respond to and lower our stress levels,’ Tomei added.Tomei also previously shared her skincare secrets and opened up about her diet.  ‘Mostly, it’s an inside-out thing. By that, I mean what you put into your body is even more crucial than what you’re doing in terms of your exterior,’ she told Vogue in August 2017.  She said she prioritizes ‘functional movement’ instead of going to the gym and tries to get enough sleep every night ‘I would say that’s been a big part of my life,’ she said about striving towards the impossible feat. ‘Slowing down, remembering simplicity and letting go of perfectionism’; seen in March in NYC ‘What I eat and how I connect with my body feed my external,’ she continued.’In terms of brass tacks, I try to eat seasonal, local, and organic foods as much as possible, almost all the time,’ she shared.As for exercise, she listed some of her favorite workouts, which include: ‘Moving meditation, like dance meditation, makes me feel at home in my skin; it helps me on a spiritual, mental, and, ultimately, physical level.’ She added, ‘I still hike and do calisthenics and yoga from time to time, but the cornerstone of it all is the inner stuff.’She also credited infrared saunas and dry brushing for her smooth skin, sharing: ‘I try to let my look be all about the skin.’ In December 2021, she noted the importance of staying hydrated and said she has a fruit and vegetable-rich shake every morning paired with chlorella tablets. For her skincare, she said she seeks out and uses products featuring ‘organic, biodynamic ingredients.’
