Kylie Minogue shares intimate details about her romance with Michael Hutchence in new Netflix special: ‘I was really impressionable’

Kylie Minogue is set to open up about her relationship with late INXS singer Michael Hutchence in an upcoming Netflix documentary about her life.

The iconic singer, 57, will be providing fans with some never-before-heard stories about her two-year relationship with the late singer, who died in 1997 aged 37.

The Melbourne-born singer reflects on her romance with Hutchence, who she dated from 1989 to 1991, in the upcoming documentary, called Kylie.

‘I was 21 when we met — and really impressionable… I mean that in the best possible way,’ Kylie said.

She then admitted that Hutchence had a big effect on her life and that she still thought about him to this day.

‘He just had such an impact on me. He was a smart, kind, deep, artistic and interesting human,’ she said.

‘We went on this beautiful journey of a relationship. His passing in 1997 was a loss to so many, including myself.’

She finished by saying the legendary singer opened her up to new experiences and for that she was grateful to him.

‘People wonder why I’m still so moved… it’s for many reasons. One of those is that he was one of my first big steps into adulthood, into the wider world,’ she said.

‘A world of possibility and discovery. Travel, literature, excess, connections, art, artistry, expression, performance and on and on the list goes! I was the perfect age for that moment.’

The upcoming Netflix documentary will see the notoriously private singer open up about both her personal and professional life.

Earlier this month, Kylie gave a first glimpse into her life as she dropped the trailer for her upcoming ‘intimate’ documentary.

The Australian singer passionately kissed late INXS frontman ex Michael Hutchence in a sweet archive video.

The couple looked happy as they cosied up in a series of clips.

Kylie also held back tears as she opened up about how terrified she was during her cancer battle, ‘I felt removed from my body, I was so scared of what was ahead of me.’

In the three-part series, Kylie’s sister Dannii added: ‘We didn’t know if she was ever gonna be well again. I just wanted to be with my sister. Music kept us going.’

The Loco-Motion hitmaker was diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in May 2005 at the age of 36.

She underwent a lumpectomy and chemotherapy in Paris, and was given the all-clear in 2006.

The series, created by the team behind the Beckham documentary, is set to explore the singer’s journey to becoming one of pop’s biggest stars.

Glimpses of Kylie’s decade-spanning career were also shared in the trailer, from her role as Charlene in Neighbours to behind-the-scenes footage of her music videos, photoshoots and her performance at Glastonbury in 2019.

The star said she ‘hated being boxed in’ and loved pushing herself to try new things in the music and acting world.

It is set to drop on Netflix on May 20 and will also feature insights from her Neighbours co-star Jason Donovan and English record producer Pete Waterman.
