It is the second time Jasmine has publicly reached out to the Syrian-born presenter following Karl’s sudden departure from Today –  the first time occurred earlier this month when Sarah uploaded photos of her baby shower ‘Beautiful,’ Jasmine wrote, adding two love heart emojis It has not gone unnoticed that Robinson – who has multiple criminal convictions – was jailed in October 2024 for breaching a court order prohibiting him from repeating false claims about a Syrian refugee who had successfully sued him for defamation.Sarah is weeks from welcoming a longed-for child with husband Cyrus, following two miscarriages, and is preparing to go on maternity leave within weeks. Those in the know describe her situation with Karl, at best, as ‘very awkward’, and at worst, a ‘betrayal’. Indeed, the toll of the saga was written all over her as she tearfully addressed his exit live on air.She was seemingly handed a poison chalice when she was chosen to sit alongside Karl on the Today desk in 2022.He has infamously fallen out with several female co-hosts – including Lisa Wilkinson and Georgie Gardner – and Sarah was expected to smooth over his off-script quips and provide a stable influence on her erratic co-host.All while earning an eye-watering $2million less than Nine’s controversial poster boy, who was, according to The Australian, on a $2.8million salary compared to Sarah’s $800,000. Though there are reports he recently took a pay cut, but negotiated permission to start his independent podcast as part of those terms. But Sarah rose to the challenge and even became friends with Karl outside of work, with pictures emerging on social media of her spending time with Jasmine and her daughter Harper. It comes after Daily Mail reported that Karl’s recent ousting from Nine follows what TV insiders describe as a ‘slap in the face’ to his most loyal wingwoman, long-time colleague Sarah Sarah was also a guest at Jasmine’s 40th birthday in 2024.She has never had a bad word to say about Karl, at least not publicly, with no suggestion she ever leaked or briefed against him during their four years on Today – a display of loyalty that is vanishingly rare in the TV industry.’Sarah has done what few women in breakfast television have managed to do, which is to create a real rapport and genuine chemistry with Karl,’ said a well-placed source.’They are absolutely close friends. Through all their early mornings at the desk together, he had a front-row seat to her fertility struggles and the pain of her miscarriages, and she was one of his biggest supporters and sounding boards.’They trusted each other. So for him to go down this path of platforming anti-immigration influencers – when she herself is a first-generation immigrant – right at a time she’s about to have a baby feels like a slap in the face to Sarah, their friendship.’
