And speaking to Lorraine on Thursday, he said that his wife Lisa Faulkner’s breast cancer diagnosis earlier this year put everything into perspective saying ‘everything else just disappears.’Lorraine Kelly, 66, briefly touched upon John’s sacking while asking Lisa, 54, about her health and said: ‘Puts everything into perspective doesn’t it John. Like a silly job, nevermind…’ Nodding in agreement, John admitted it had been a ‘tough year’ but said: ‘When someone says the cancer word, everything else just disappears.’Lisa announced she had been given the all-clear in July following surgery and said: ‘I am really good. I had surgery in the summer and radiotherapy and I’m all done.’They caught it really early. There is a whole thing with breast density that we don’t know about. In the end I had a and that’s how they picked it up. Go for your mammograms’.A contrast enhanced mammogram, or CEM is a test that aims to ‘highlight’ areas of concern within the breast. She said she was ‘really surprised’ and thought she’s ‘got lucky’ by only having radiotherapy and people told her not to dismiss it, adding: ‘I didn’t realise it would make me so tired!’ The couple were on the show to promote their new cookery book John and Lisa’s Weeknight Dinners, which is one way John will now be earning a living.
