Byron Bay influencer Ruby Tuesday Matthews has joined a chorus of other Aussies, revealing she is considering leaving Australia for good. The mother-of-three, 33, made the announcement on Thursday during an Instagram Q&A with her fans, revealing that she and her partner Shannan Dodd are looking at moving to Hong Kong. ‘I’m going to say 90 percent sure we’re going,’ Ruby said. Shannan, who was sitting next to her, added: ‘I think that we should definitely [move]… because our business will thrive a lot more overseas.’ Ruby then turned her attention to Australia’s tax system, complaining that despite working harder than ever, the couple felt they were handing over much of their earnings to the government. ‘Well, realistically, we give all of our money to the bloody government and we work harder than we’ve ever worked in our life,’ she said. Their comments come as Australia’s tax system continues to attract debate among business owners and high-income earners, particularly over the difference between personal income tax and the tax paid by companies.Australian companies generally pay a 30 per cent corporate tax rate, while eligible small businesses with an aggregated turnover below $50 million can qualify for a reduced rate of 25 per cent.Company tax is separate from the personal income tax paid by individuals, meaning business owners’ overall tax obligations depend on how their businesses are structured and how profits are distributed.Ruby recently returned from a trip to South Korea, where she underwent a $16,000 facelift in August.
