Si King has praised his ‘fabulous’ ex-wife Jane as he reflected on their divorce just days after revealing new romance.Earlier this month the Hairy Biker chef shared that he had found love with a new partner two years after the heartbreaking death of his best friend Dave Myers. However despite referring to his new partner, Milly, as a ‘very special lady’, Si is still ‘great mates’ with his ex-wife Jane. The pair, who share three sons Alex, James and Dylan, split back in 2016 after 27 years, citing the demands and long absences caused by his career for the breakdown of the marriage.And reflecting on the divorce during the latest episode of Davina McCall’s Begin Again podcast, Si said: ‘Jane and I are great great mates and I adore her. She’s a fabulous woman.’Davina then asked: ‘How did you do it [divorce] in an amicable way? Um I mean we wanted to be as amicable as we could be for our children.’And Jane was more emotionally mature than I was going through that process, I think and what I would say it just takes time.’It is possible with time and it’s important. A divorce is rather like a marriage. It’s about compromise and it’s about understanding where you went wrong and being an adult about it and kind of going it takes two to tango and it’s never anybody’s fault.’He continued: ‘It’s just broke and I continue to think and about it a lot in the sense that you know I have been incredibly lucky in my life that I have been I’ve been loved.’That love doesn’t break it becomes different but I was loved at that time of the person that I was and you have to treat that with enormous respect and then I’ve been loved after that and you know love just changes. ‘It’s kind of shapeless because it is it is about the person that you are and what you’re giving off and all of those nuances about the time that you are and the existence that you have and the life that you have at that point. ‘But you can’t dismiss it because it is part of the journey and knowledge that shapes you as you go through to maturity and you have to treat it very gently and kindly and with respect.’Last week Si opened up for the first time about his new relationship as he revealed she has helped him feel less alone since the passing of his best friend Dave. He told The Sunday Times magazine: ‘She is a very special lady. She really is. I’m very happy. It’s been wonderful and continues to be wonderful. And you know, I think the lads [his sons] are really happy, as is my ex-wife Jane, actually.’ ‘It’s about being present, and I think for very many years I wasn’t present. And my home life suffered,’ he said.When asked how he is doing now, Si said: ‘I’m all right, I mean look, it’s challenging and I continue to work probably too hard, but I kind of don’t know what else to do.’Milly has also spoken about their budding relationship for the first time as she told the Daily Mail: ‘We’re very happy together.”He is loved by everyone and so he should be. He is who he is – he is lovely. We’ve actually been seeing each other for quite a while now.’Asked how the relationship had remained under wraps for so long, she added modestly: ‘I’m quite quiet and I let Si get on with things.’Since they began dating the new couple have enjoyed a trip to Tuscany in Italy as well as dates around the North East where Si lives.
