Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes has spoken out on the new Victorian Premier Ben Carroll, saying his first address as leader was ‘honest’ but ‘chilling’. The comedian, 55, shared a reel to Facebook on Tuesday addressing the change in Labor leadership as well as Carroll’s ‘integrity’ speech. Hughesy said Carroll’s criticism of his predecessors Jacinta Allan and Dan Andrews was harrowing, and admitted he hopes the Premier loses the state election this year. ‘I have never seen an incoming leader whack their predecessors harder than Ben Carroll gave it to Jacinta Allan and Dan Andrews today,’ Hughesy said in the clip.’This is what he said. He said, “In the government I lead, integrity will not be optional. I’m not Dan Andrews. I’m not Jacinta Allan.” They’re the words he used. ‘He’s been there the whole time. The whole 12 years. He’s watched every single move they’ve made. And what’s the first thing he says?’ Dave ‘Hughesy’ Hughes, 55, has spoken out on the new Victorian Premier Ben Carroll, saying his first address as leader was ‘honest’ but ‘chilling””In the government I lead, integrity will not be optional.” Think about that. Think about the missing billions and billions and billions of dollars,’ Hughesy continued. ‘The man who watched it all said in the government he leads, integrity will not be optional. I hope he’s right. ‘I still hope he hasn’t got a job in two months, but still, I’ve never seen a bigger whack for leaders, from an incoming leader on the same team, as that.’Hughesy then added in the caption that ‘not enough is being made of what’ Carroll said in his ‘chilling’ first address on Tuesday afternoon. ‘He started with the usual electioneering BS that his opponents will cut everything but then he got honest and I found it chilling,’ he wrote. ‘He just told everyone that the critics were right. ‘He basically said he’s witnessed 12 years of corruption when he said this: “I’m not Dan Andrews and I’m not Jacinta Allan,” then, “Under a government I lead, integrity will not be optional.” ‘He also said he will respect each dollar of public money he spends and make sure it benefits all.’ Join the discussionIs Ben Carroll¿s vow for ¿zero tolerance¿ on integrity enough to restore your trust in Victorian politics? What’s your view? Hughesy said Carroll’s criticism of his predecessors Jacinta Allan and Dan Andrews was harrowing, and admitted he hopes the Premier loses the state election this year’He’s been watching Dan and Jacinta up close, behind closed doors, for 12 years. So we were right. And Albo appears to be now in a partnership with Dan,’ he continued.’Get it now, rusted on Labor voters, why old cooker Hughesy jumped ship?’Carroll distanced himself from Andrews and Allan, declaring he was heading Labor in a ‘new direction’, during his first press conference since being sworn in as Victoria’s 50th premier. ‘Let me make one thing very clear: I am not Daniel Andrews, I am not Jacinta Allan. I will do things differently, because different times require a new approach,’ he said.’Our government does need to go in a new direction, as premier I will deliver that new direction.’That’s why today we are saying enough is enough.’In my government, integrity will not be optional, whether in business, politics or the union movement, there will be zero tolerance for those who misuse their positions.’Carroll then said his ‘first action as premier’ would be to call a Royal Commission into the construction sector following the Big Build corruption scandal.
