Coleen Nolan, 61, fights back tears and says she’s ‘mortified’ as her date tells her they have no ‘sexual chemistry’ on Celebs Go Dating

Coleen Nolan fought back tears after her date told her they had no ‘sexual chemistry’ on Wednesday’s episode of Celebs Go Dating.

The Loose Women presenter, 61, is one of the famous faces taking part in this year’s series of the E4 show, hoping to find love on a series of dates in Tenerife alongside the likes of Love Island star Gabby Allen, 34, and rapper Professor Green, 42.

At the end of their trip, Coleen’s dates Steve and Andy were asked if they would like to see her again, and neither of them wanted to – leaving an embarrassed to Coleen put her head in her hands.

She said: ‘I literally want the ground to swallow me up, I am mortified, I am really hurt actually, because I really did think Steve would stand up. I thought we had a great connection.

Dating expert Paul Carrick Brunson asked Steve: ‘Why did you not stand up?’

Steve explained: ‘Me and Coleen were an absolutely hit from the start, emotionally. But the only thing for me, the sexual chemistry wasn’t there.’

Paul then asked Coleen how she was feeling, to which she said: ‘I thought me and Steve got on really, really well. Like so well.’

Steve added: ‘I hope that after this we can still be friends. I would love to see her again.’

A shocked Gabby said to her castmates: ‘He’s digging himself a hole.’

Coleen explained: ‘I didn’t come on here to meet a friend. I’ve got lots of male friends that I get on great with.’

The dating experts then reassured her that they would work hard to try and find her the perfect man.

Previously on the show, Coleen has been very honest and open about how she feels being a single woman.

Last week, the singer admitted that she’s suffering from ’empty nest syndrome’ and declared ‘I’m not ready to be on my own’ in an emotional chat with the experts.

Coleen’s sons Shane, 27, and Jake, 33 and daughter Ciara, 25, have all left home now, leaving her struggling with loneliness.

Paul went on to ask: ‘If you break down the areas that you believe we can to most to help you. What would those areas be?’

Coleen replied: ‘I think me mainly. I think I am the problem. I don’t know why, I’ve been through a lot relationship wise. I’ve had two marriages, I’ve had relationships since then.

‘I think I want something and then I get it, and I almost back away from it and think I don’t want it. I don’t want that.

‘So in the last few months I’ve sat there and thought, I don’t know what I want, really. Also for me, going out feels like work. The last couple of years, all my kids have moved.

‘So you go through the empty nest, for a while it was bliss. I’m not going to lie, I thought “Wow.” Now they are all very settled. They’ve all got kids. I see them every day really.

‘But then they all go home, I think I said at the dinner party, this is my first Christmas putting decorations up on my own.

‘To the point where I hated it. I didn’t even feel Christmassy. Then it hit me where I thought, I don’t know if I am ready to just be on my own.’

Speaking to the camera, Anna explained: ‘Empty nest syndrome is actually really common. I reckon there are a lot of people who can relate to this.’

The Cambridge Dictionary defines empty nest syndrome as ‘the sad feelings that parents have when their children grow up and leave home’.

Coleen shares Shane and Jake with her ex Shane Richie, who she was married to between 1990 and 1999.

She also shares her daughter Ciara with her ex Ray Fensome. The former couple first got together in 2001, but officially split in 2018.
