Bucks Fizz stars Cheryl Baker and Bobby G have delighted fans by reuniting for a snap, 15 years after their dramatic feud The judge ruled in favour of Bobby on grounds that since his wife (Heidi Manton, also a member of his group) owned the Bucks Fizz name, the use of the name The Original Bucks Fizz was therefore an impediment on their trademark. Bobby went on to discuss the row in a 2016 interview with Peter Robertson, saying: ‘They’re very bitter. What rubbed them up more was that I fought the case on our behalf and they lost. It cost them an awful lot of money. ‘They even had to pay me. Because of that they don’t talk to me these days.’By far one of the UK’s most successful Eurovision exports, Bucks Fizz earned the top spot in 1981 with their skirt-whipping routine. The group were riding high on their success when tragedy struck in 1984, after a terrifying bus crash in Newcastle left Cheryl Baker with a broken spine, and Mike Nolan in a three-day coma.Mike developed epilepsy in the wake of the ordeal, lost 50 per cent of his vision in both eyes and became noticeably withdrawn. The group split the following year, with Jay Aston declaring she was leaving the band after an affair with Andy Hill, the husband of the group’s creator, Nichola Martin.Since then the group has undergone numerous lineup changes, with Shelley Preston replacing Jay, but she quit after a year.David Van Day joined the band, but following his departure, a court case ensued over the group’s name, with Bobby G keeping the naming rights. Bobby and Cheryl were previously embroiled in a feud after he won a court case that prevented his former bandmates to perform under the name The Original Bucks FizzJay has since revealed she ended up ‘on the dole and living in a bedsit’ after her legal battles with the band left her penniless. She and Cheryl have since reunited with Mike to form the trio The Fizz.In 1985, Aston left the group which led Bobby to perform as a three-piece with Nolan and Baker. But when Baker left in 1993, Bobby largely took over management and hired new members Heidi Manton and Amanda Schwartz.Heidi would later become his wife in 2000, with the couple going on to have daughter Millie in 2006.
