More than 10 years after Breaking Bad ended, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have revealed how their unbreakable bond led to the launch of their tequila range Dos Hombres.At it’s height, the series was a cultural phenomenon that won numerous awards, countless fans, and even the creation of a critically-acclaimed spin-off, Better Call Saul. While the show focused primarily on Walter White’s (Cranston) thriving methamphetamine empire, his unlikely friendship with his former student Jesse Pinkman (Paul) served as both comic relief and one of his most enduring relationships throughout the show. When the series ended in 2013, Cranston and Paul were no longer seeing one another on a regular basis. But not for long. The duo joined forces several years later to launch their tequila brand, Dos Hombres, and are now celebrating the release of their Reposado – which wouldn’t be here if it hadn’t been for their friendship. At a launch party celebrating their new liquor on Tuesday attended by The Daily Mail, the duo revealed how their line came to be over a dinner in New York City. Breaking Bad stars Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul have revealed how their unbreakable bond led to the launch of their tequila range Dos Hombres The duo portrayed the unlikely friends who were the brains behind a thriving methamphetamine empire ‘Three years after the end of Breaking Bad, we missed each other and we didn’t know where the other person was most of the time after spending nearly seven years together, very close, sometimes too close now,’ Cranston told party goers at The Sun Rose Hotel in West Hollywood. ‘Never too close,’ Aaron said.’Then we had dinner in New York City, and at that dinner, he said to me, “You know what we ought to do?”‘Start a mezcal company,’ Aaron recalled.’To which I said, “Wow!” Terrible!”He goes, “The s**tty spirit with the dead worm at the bottom of it?” Aaron said. ‘So obviously, I had a very, very, very bad mezcal when I was 19-years-old, and I didn’t want to have that ever again,’ Cranston recalled. ‘You brought me back,’ he told Paul. ‘He took me to a mezcal bar and wined and dined me. I didn’t go home with him. No, no, not that kind of girl. ‘But we shared that same desire to do something passionate, and we’ve been very fortunate in our lives, in our personal lives, in our marriages, in our work, and we love to work, but we don’t need jobs. So that was my criteria there. It doesn’t, and that’s the great thing about it, is that we’re passionate about it. And so we went down to Oaxaca, and we found the perfect mezcal for us. Just right.’ Cranston said. Paul and Cranston announced Dos Hombres in 2019, a name which nods at their friendship. ‘We named it Dos Hombres – two guys on a quest,’ they said in their announcement. ‘It’s been a long and crazy journey and we couldn’t be happier to share this with you and the rest of the world.’ True to what Cranston was saying on Tuesday night, they have stayed busy promoting the business ever since – and are clearly having fun. The duo have been seen serving up Dos Hombres infused drinks over the years to fans, even popping up at a Costco to serve samples to customers. Breaking Bad ran on AMC for five seasons from 2008 to 2013.
